Whenever I buy something out of my precious IMBB points, I buy something worthy, something that would last me for years to come, something special. So, if you follow IMBB posts, you would know that earlier I had bought heated hair rollers when I was in India, but this time, I wanted to invest in a ceramic curler in a size that I do not own. It is also my first product from VS Sassoon. For more defined curls and spiralling ringlets, I chose the 19mm Ceramic Curler from VS Sassoon. This slender wand is the perfect pick for Shirley Temple-inspired hairstyle. Read on for more details on VS Sassoon 19mm Instant Heat Ceramic Curler.

How To Use VS Sassoon 19mm Instant Heat Ceramic Curler:
Curls: Take a section of hair and place the curling tong into the hair. Spread hair evenly between the clamp and the barrel. Make sure the ends are securely wound underneath the clamp in the direction of the desired curl to avoid crimped ends. Wind the hair up as far as you want it to be curled, being very careful not to let the appliance touch the scalp. Hold the tong in the hair for five to eight seconds and then press the lever to release the hair. Carefully slide the tong out of the hair. Leave the curl to cool so that it sets fully in the hair before you comb out or style further. For a more tousled look run your fingers through the curls to break them up once the hair has cooled.

Modern: Wind the tong up towards the hair root or as far up the hair section as you want curls. For a more modern curl, don’t wind the tong right the way up to the top of the hair section; instead, leave at least 7cm from the root to the start of the curl).
Flicks: To create flicks, take up a section of the ends of the hair and twist up to create flicks. To create rounded ends, turn under.
Expert Tips:
The type of curl achieved depends not just on the size the barrel but also on the section of hair that you wind around the barrel of the curling tong. For looser, free-flowing curls, use bigger sections. For more defined, tighter curls, use smaller sections. Spray the hair with hairspray for extra protection and hold prior to curling.
My Experience with VS Sassoon 19mm Instant Heat Ceramic Curler:
I have wavy to curly hair and have been straightened chemically thrice so far. My hair naturally likes to be curly. I had straightened my hair last in February this year, so you can say that my real hair has grown out one third now. This is the perfect time to use these sort of curlers to get an even look on my growing half straight and half wavy hair.

The curler is a simple, no-fuss gadget. It has a rotating mechanism to set heat and for my thick hair, it is always over 6. The tongs are simple with the grip and the stand. The stand is super useful, so I don’t have to worry about burnt bedsheets. I would say it takes a minute or more to heat up.
There are two ways I try it, either clip the ends of the hair and roll the tongs upwards, or clip the root of the hair and use the other to wrap the hair around the curler. The latter method gives slightly beach curls. If you want more defined curls grip the ends of the hair and roll upwards.

It has given me fantastic results in 20 seconds. I have tried it with a hair potion for blow drying as well as a spray afterwards. I have tried it only with a serum. Nevertheless, it has given me fantastic results, which have lasted. Like you can see in the pictures, I curled it one evening, went out, and slept with my curled hair.

My hair remained so with slight beachy salt spray style the next day, but overall, I am very pleased with the results. Remember, the length of the hair is greatly shortened in curling like this, so your friends or partner could be shocked. I love the size of the barrel for soft looking curls, the claim of Shirley temple like curls is perfectly true. I love everything about this curler.

Cons of VS Sassoon 19mm Instant Heat Ceramic Curler:
