In this post, I will be reviewing one of the shades from the Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer range – RD302 Seulgi Burgundy. I am sure you remember these lip lacquers from Sam’s Korean makeup and skincare haul videos on the Rati Beauty app. This range is essentially of liquid lipsticks with a matte finish. I love matte lipsticks and I absolutely love bold lip colours. So, without further delay, let’s go into my experience with Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer Seulgi Burgundy.

My Experience with Etude House Matte Chic Lip Lacquer Seulgi Burgundy:
The product comes in a burgundy cardboard box and it contains the ingredient lists as well as the product description (in both Korean and English). The name of the shade is mentioned on this box. It also comes with usage instructions, but I think most of us know how to use liquid lipsticks. The only important thing to keep in mind from the instructions is that this lipstick takes 2 minutes to set (so that it can be smudge-free and long lasting). The actual product is enclosed in frosted glass-like tube, so it is easy to visualise the amount of product left. The shade name is also mentioned on the tube which is quite handy.

The applicator is a doe-foot one, but it’s slightly more concave (bent in) in shape which makes for an easier application on the lips. The cap provides a nice ergonomic hold. Overall, the packaging is cute and travel-friendly. The lip lacquer is one the most pigmented lipsticks in my collection. Just one swipe of the product is enough to cover any sort of pigmentation on the lips. The amount of pigment in this lip lacquer is remarkable. I don’t feel the need to dip the wand again for more product. One dip is more than enough for my lips. The colour is a stunning true burgundy. I think it will look good on most Indian skin tones. I have warm undertones and this lipstick looks good on my skin tone. It’s a perfect bold winter/gothic/vampiric colour.

The lip lacquer applies like a dream on moisturized lips. I never use lipsticks without moisturizing them, so I don’t know how it will apply on dry lips. The applicator allows for easy filling of the lips. However, one has to be super precise while applying this lipstick as it’s very pigmented and leaves behind a stain if something goes wrong, but this is a caution which applies to all liquid lipsticks. It takes 2 minutes to settle after which you can blot off the excess and you are ready to go. Once it settles, the lips feel so soft and lightweight. This is the first time that a liquid lipstick has felt so soft and lightweight on my lips. Like Sam said, this lipstick doesn’t go anywhere unless you use oil and she was absolutely right about it. It’s one of those lipsticks which doesn’t need re-touching as the day goes. I wouldn’t call it completely transfer-free as due to the richness of the pigment, it transfers on coffee cups, but this doesn’t affect the lip colour in any way. It stays intact without fading. Which is why, I don’t think this a con of the lipstick. It doesn’t feel dry on the lips either but then again, I use it on moisturized lips and keep myself hydrated.

The only time I had a problem with this lip lacquer is when I had oily food. It started to fade and left stains on my lips as well as the chin. But to be honest, I had forgotten I had lipstick on (since it doesn’t need re-touching or feels like anything) and I can be a carefree eater. You do need a very good cleansing oil to remove this lip lacquer. I use my absolute favourite – the Bobbi Brown cleansing oil to remove this lip lacquer.
Overall, I highly recommend this shade from the Etude House matte lip lacquer range. It is pigmented, feels like nothing on the lips and it doesn’t go anywhere unless you decide to eat oily food. It can literally stay for days if you don’t remove it.
