Hey gorgeous gals,
This review is on the shade “Bellini” from Bobbi Brown’s Luxe Lip Color range (Bellini is something that I love to drink), but do I love the lipstick too? Let’s find out 😛
Product Description:
A full coverage, vitamin C and E-infused lipstick that plumps lips, supports natural collagen, and smooths the look of lines and wrinkles.
What it does:
Luxe Lipstick rejuvenates lips, helping to reduce the appearance of lip lines and relieve lip flaking. Infused with vitamins C and E and MaxiLip, a powerful peptide, this lipstick plumps lips, supports natural collagen production and minimizes the look of fine lines and wrinkles. Just one swipe delivers vibrant, full-coverage color. It comes encased in a sleek, gold tube. It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
Price:
USD $35/INR 3300 for 3.8 gm.
My Experience with Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color Bellini:
Packaging: Bobbi Brown moved from her classic black packaging to the one colour which has always indicated luxe – gold! So, the case for the luxe lip color happens to be a golden one with Bobbi Brown written on the side and her lovely logo etched on top. The bullet itself is free from any branding. The lipstick has the regular twist-up mechanism and lacks the magnetic closure. However, the cap fits in snugly, so there are very little chances of it coming undone in a bag. As with all things Bobbi Brown – the lipstick comes packaged in a black box which has the ingredients mentioned on it.
Color: The shade, “Bellini,” described by the brand as a “warm coral,” is a light to medium peachy coral with a white base, which make it look a bit pastel. When applied, the shade looks a bit pastel and clashes horribly with my skin tone. For me to work it, I would ideally need a slightly darker lip liner to make the shade transition into this colour. Darker the skin tone, the more evident the white base will seem and the more difficult it would be for someone to carry this off.
Texture: The lipstick feels extremely lightweight. It glides on with buttery smoothness. This shade seemed to have more slip and the product tends to gather and accumulate when lips are pursed or even when lips touch each other. It is not flattering when that happens. I’m not sure how but it tends to glide over the lip and not really settle – unlike the other shades. This makes it feel like it’s just lying on top of the lips and the product tends to move around. I am able to make it settle a little by lightly dabbing at it post application – with my ring finger – Pat McGrath style; it helps with the appearance a bit. It keeps the lips hydrated as promised by Bobbi Brown. At the end of the day – your lips feel better off having worn the lipstick.
Pigmentation: Pigmentation is quite good. It needs a layer and half to get a full wash of colour. Like I said, as a habit, we tend to go over our lips a couple of time, but that isn’t really required. The colour is fully opaque and hides my lip pigmentation well.
Lasting Power: The lipstick gives you about 5 hours of wear. However, a meal will make it disappear unless you were doing finger foods. This shade does not leave much of a stain. So, one would definitely need re-application mid day.
Fragrance: There is a hint of a fragrance, but only if I put my nose very close to the lipstick!
Pros of Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color Bellini:
- An interesting summery coral shade.
- Lightweight texture.
- Good pigmentation.
- Very comfortable to wear – no feeling of dryness or clinginess.
- No feathering or bleeding.
- Hydrating.
- Luxe packaging.
- Decent wear time.
- Free from parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
Cons of Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color Bellini:
- The lipstick texture tends to gather on the lip.
- The white base of the shade clashes with my light to medium skin tone.
- The lipstick does not seem to melt into the lips – it just stays on top of the lips and tends to move around.
Would I Recommend Bobbi Brown Luxe Lip Color Bellini?
This shade definitely does not work for me – neither the shade itself, nor the texture. The only way I can use this colour would be if I were to apply a lip liner as base or use this as a highlighter over a dark coral shade. I will not recommend this lipstick.
