Hi guys,
In this post, I will be reviewing “Baby House” from Sugar Cosmetics. I recently tried “Murphy Brown” from the Matte as Hell lip crayon range and was highly impressed. I picked up three more shades (Stephanie Plum, Baby Houseman, and Brandy Harrington). To know more about this product, and how it fared for me, keep reading.

My Experience with Sugar Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick Baby Houseman:
The product comes housed in Sugar Cosmetic’s iconic matte graphic cardboard box. It bears the shade name, price and ingredients. It also comes with its own free sharpener, and this is a good addition as not all sharpeners cater to all lip crayon sizes. The lip crayon comes in a matte black packaging with the bottom of the crayon bearing the shade label, which is useful in picking out a certain colour among multiple lip crayons from this brand. The cap closes down well, but I have to be extra careful while opening the crayon as I want to avoid nicking the top of the pencil. The crayon does sometimes get messy. I also don’t store it in the box, as sometimes the cap comes off while taking it out.
The shade “Baby Houseman” is described as a deep pink shade. It is a bright, but a deep shade of pink suitable for medium to dark skin tones. On me, it looks dark during the night and makes my lips appear fuller. This shade is out of my comfort zone, but I love it.
The crayon itself is not too thin and not too thick for me. In two or three swipes, I can easily line and fill my lips. The texture of the crayon is ultra smooth. No pressure is required during application. This crayon sets into a smudge-proof finish within seconds. It has a comfortable matte texture. It glides on the lips without tugging or pulling. The colour payoff is amazing too. It does not budge at all, except when I eat something. It is transfer proof to an extent.
The only problem is that if this crayon is not sharpened properly, it may not give neat lines. Sometimes, it even looks grainy on the lips. So, if you have thin lips, you have to be extra careful and line the lips with a lip liner first. Also, sharpening the product to give a pointy tip does lead to product wastage. I feel at this price, the product should have been retractable in exchange for the free sharpener.
Pros of Sugar Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick Baby Houseman:
- Supremely pigmented.
- Does not tug, applies smoothly and evenly on the lips.
- Long lasting.
- Dries down to a comfortable, matte texture.
- Its wax-based formulation does not contain mineral oil, parabens, paraffin, phenoxyethanols, volatile cyclomethicones (D4, D5, D6) and animal derived ingredients.
Cons of Sugar Matte As Hell Crayon Lipstick Baby Houseman:
- Not very easy to get neat lines; a lip liner is needed for those with thin lips.
IMBB Rating:
4.5/5
