I bought top and base coats for lashes from Etude House recently. A lot of brands offer such kind of lash products and I never indulge in them. These two products by Etude House caught my eye while I was adding other Korean brand products to my cart and decided to give them a try as well. I have good things to say for the base coat, but not so much for the top coat mostly because it does not serve my needs that well. This review is about the top coat that I have been trying for over a month now.
Product Description:
This mascara base enhances the volume and curl of every lash, maximizing the effect of mascara.

My Experience with Etude House Oh My Eye Lash Top Coat:
I enjoy Etude House skincare products because they seem to work well on my skin and are also easy on my pocket, hence I decided to give a try to their makeup line as well. I bought a bunch of makeup products from this brand and one of them is this mascara/lash top coat.
The product comes in a mascara-like packaging. The transparent tube that holds the product is slender and has a black cap on top. The cap holds the lash comb/wand and is neither too thick or too skinny – just the right size and serves its purpose well. It is a generous-sized tube and it looks to me like the product will last a while. The product is blue in color but applies clear. In the tube, it looks like blue-colored aloe gel.
I have mentioned in my previous reviews of Korean makeup that their main feature is subtleness, giving natural yet a radiant look to the face. They do not create dramatic looks or over-exaggerated features. Their products work but within the limits of natural beauty and appearance – these products are not for people who love to make a dramatic statement with their makeup. That is why Korean skin care is famous in USA, but makeup, not so much.
I have previously reviewed mascaras by brands like TonyMoly and Missha and they were a letdown for me because they were a bit too subtle for me and this top coat by Etude House is not different. I like the base coat, but the top coat not so much. The top coat can be applied on bare lashes or on top of a regular mascara.
When I applied this mascara on bare lashes, I did not feel any change in the appearance of my lashes and when applied on top of mascara, it did not enhance the effect; rather the wand caught some of the mascara and became dirty. It can however be beneficial for those who don’t wear waterproof mascara and need a waterproof coating on their lashes.
Pros of Etude House Oh My Eye Lash Top Coat:
- I like skincare stuff from Etude House and I love their ingredient list, so I hope they follow the same protocol in their makeup line as well.
- Affordable and worth a try.
- It is a product for those who don’t like to wear dramatic mascaras and also for those who need a waterproof coating on their regular mascara.
- The wand is neither too thick, nor too skinny, serves the purpose well.
Cons of Etude House Oh My Eye Lash Top Coat:
- Availability can be an issue for some, but some Korean websites do ship to India as well.
- Not a must-have product for me. It does nothing for my bare lashes and when applied on top of a mascara, it does not enhance my lashes further and in turn makes the wand dirty.
Would I Recommend Etude House Oh My Eye Lash Top Coat?
I recommend it to those who just want to add a subtle lift to their lashes or want a waterproof coating to their mascara. It is not an essential product and can be skipped.
