Get These Fall Fashion Trends In My Closet, Like, Right Now
While I enjoyed my tie-dye sweatsuits as much as the next gal, it’s safe today 2020 was kind of a wash in terms of fashion. Don’t get me wrong—I still online-shopped like a total maniac, but I didn’t have many opportunities to wear my new finds out in the world (Thank goodness I could still post them on Instagram). With this in mind, I’m ready to fully dive into the top 2021 fashion trends for fall, so catch me listing most of my 2020 impulse-buys on Poshmark.
If last year taught us anything, it’s that we simply don’t know what’s coming. Still, we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some fashion trends! A handful of fall 2021 trends are already popping up all over my Instagram Explore page (and the Instagram Shop tab, which like, I refuse to use) and I’m planning to use the coin I saved by staying home all last year to buy everything the fashionistas I follow on TikTok won’t stop raving about.
As more brands share their plans for cool-weather attire, this list will grow and evolve, but for now, there are plenty of concrete trends that come to mind. Now that we can all dress up again, why not make the most of it? From blazers to boots to exciting knits, it’s shaping up to be a pretty damn stylish season, don’tcha think?
If you’re looking to make the most of the fall 2021 fashion trends, read on for a few to shop now.

Knit Boleros
We called these sweater sleeves last year, but really, they’re cropped knit boleros. And I couldn’t love them more! Pair them with tank tops and denim during the transitional weather, then snag a tank dress in the same knit for a layered look that beats a boring old sweater dress any day. If you’re seeking a plus-size option, Eloquii has the goods, as usual.
Faux Leather Frenzy
This trend should come as no surprise. Don’t think you need to splurge on the Aritzia Melinas to get the look, though! Any faux leather piece will do, and these pants from Zara pique my interest at just under $40.
Chunky Loafers
Ready to swap out your summer sandals but not so into boots or sneakers? This season’s stylish in-between comes in the form of chunky loafer goodness. Bonus points if you opt for a non-black pair with some silver hardware, like these from Madden Girl.
An It Girl Handbag
Bottega bags (and dupes, eye roll) have had their time in the sun. This season, find the perfect balance between old and new, like a classic silhouette in a fun colorway or texture, or a wild shape in classic black or tan. If you’re feeling the former, this vegan pick from SINBONO is for you.
Mid-Calf Boots
Knee-highs def trump booties and OTK styles this season, but real tastemakers are leaning towards heeled mid-calf silhouettes for an even sleeker statement. My faves are the Platt Boots from Naturalizer, which come in a few hues and hit at that perfect mid-shin sweet spot.
The Perfect Button-Up
Whether you buy yours cropped, oversized or with a trendy wrap detail, a good button-up is an essential this season. Choose from classics like business blue and crisp white, or try out some of the season’s top-trending colors and pair them with those leather pants we mentioned earlier.
Endless Blazers
If you’re still fighting the blazer trend, it’s time to release your inner Hailey Bieber. Lean in, babe! You’ll marvel at just how quickly throwing a blazer over any basic tee can elevate your look. Plus, when the days start freezing and end blazing hot, you’ll be glad you’ve got a layer you can take on and off at your leisure.
Heeled Mary Janes
I really didn’t see this coming, but to be honest, I’m a huge fan. The more femme alternative to chunky loafers are sky-high platform Mary Janes—and paired with sheer tights? Swoon. This pair by Steve Madden tops my To-Buy List, by far.
Anything Kelly Green
Kelly green has positively taken over and it’s pretty much the only color I want to wear right now. If you feel the same, I highly recommend snagging the Gabbi Bag (Emily Ratajkowski and Megan Fox love the silhouette!) in Grass Green to pair with, well, everything.
