Milla Jovovich’s Number-One Anti-Aging Tip Is Sleeping on Her Back
Supermodel and actress Milla Jovovich loves to get her beauty sleep, but she has some rules for the “right” way to get her Z’s in. On Instagram this weekend, Jovovich posted her tips on why sleeping on your back is the way to go, how to look refreshed come morning and the products she uses to fight any a.m. puff.
“I’ve trained myself to not be a stomach sleeper,” says the Resident Evil star. “I don’t want all my products to end up on my pillow and hello gravity! When you sleep on your stomach, you end up looking like a melted candle in the morning because all the fluids drain up to your face.” However, she hasn’t been practicing this habit forever.
“Once I got into my 30’s, sleeping on my stomach was a no-go. I would wake up looking so puffy and crazy. Saying that, there are some things I add to my routine at night that are amazing.”
First on Jovovich’s list of favorites is Shani Darden’s Retinol Reform ($88), which she says she only uses a few nights a week as her skin is already very red and sensitive. “I also love to use different products on different nights. That way, I never get too much of anything that could potentially lead to concerns,” she says in her post.
Whenever Jovovich applies the retinol, she backs it up with The Ordinary 100% Niacinamide Powder ($6) mixed with a hyaluronic acid serum. “This adds extra moisture to my skin and really tightens my pores so my skin looks amazing in the morning.”
When she isn’t using her retinol staple, she goes for peptides instead, which are amino acids that promote collagen, elastic and other proteins. “Because I’m such a fan of Vitamin C under my SPF, I don’t end up using peptides during the day, so night time is a great opportunity to add them into my regimen. I love them. Would I buy them over a Vitamin C serum? Probably not. But hey, like I said, I use products like crazy so there you go.”
Because no one is snapping pics of the model at night, she loads up on shine-inducing, moisturizing masks—a few of her favorites are from Sisley, Dermalogica and Peach & Lily, but her most-used is Veld’s Age 2O Deep Hydration Mask ($56), saying it’s a lifesaver on a plane or when the skin is acting up.
