Julia Garner’s “Big Trick” for Curly Hair Is This One Product She’s Been Using for Years
The one bright spot in the consistently dark crime drama “Ozark” is Julia Garner’s hair—those blond, almost angelic-like ringlets that somehow don’t make her character of Ruth Langmore (a role Garner has earned two Emmy Awards for) seem all that bad. And now, in an interview with Vulture, the star is sharing the one product she keeps going back to achieve her signature look.
“My hair got really curly all of a sudden around when I was, I don’t know, 11 years old. I didn’t really know what to do with it. The salon my mom would go to sold this product [Aveda Be Curly Curl Enhancer, $27] and I tried it out. I’ve been using it ever since. I’ve tried different products here and there for whatever reason, but this is what I always come back to. When it ain’t broke, don’t fix it — I’m very much like that. A lot of times the products made for curly hair can make it look super crunchy. But this makes mine look really nice.”
Garner also went on to share that she doesn’t over-complicate her style. “I comb it in while I shower and then just let it dry—I very rarely dry with a towel. That’s my big trick for curly hair.”
Also making appearances on the self-described “skin-care junkie’s” beauty hit list: Fresh Soy Face Cleanser ($38), Chantecaille Future Skin Gel Foundation ($78) and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare SpectraLite FaceWare Pro ($435), which she calls an “instant refresher.”
“I’m a skin-care junkie and I love good products. A makeup artist who’s familiar with my skin introduced me to LED therapy and I use this mask on an as-needed basis,” she told Vulture. “When I’m exhausted, my skin usually reflects how I feel, and this is an instant refresher. During quarantine, I started to break out a lot. I freaked out because I thought I was getting adult acne. I’ve never had any major problems with my skin before; I think it was a combination of being overdue for a facial—I needed to get one before the pandemic hit and I didn’t—and stress eating a lot of cheese and dairy the first two or three months of quarantine. I cut out the dairy and have been using this mask, and now I’ve calmed down. I don’t think I have adult acne.”
