1. Oversized Suiting
Buy: Lioness The Don Jacket $99There’s no doubt that 2019 was the year of the suit, and 2020 is no different. Suits—specifically oversized suits—will reign for fall and winter 2020. Whether you choose to don a full suit or just one piece (Shout out to oversized blazers continuing to trend this year!!), you can’t go wrong.
Keep it simple with a tailored oversized blazer in a neutral hue or pattern, like The Don Jacket by Lioness. It’s sure to pair well with everything from trousers to leggings.
2. Big, Fuzzy Coats
The main goal for fall and winter 2020? Stay warm AF. I was living for the huge fuzzy coats at the Sergio Hudson show, and I can already tell they’re going to be everywhere for the colder months, so if you’re always freezing, you’re in luck. Cozying up in these giant coats can be your only prerogative.
If you’re a bit skeptical of this trend, invest in a neutral coat first. Of course, you can always get a little wild and cozy up in an animal print coat this fall and winter, like this Leopard Print Faux Fur Jacket from Topshop. Paired with your favorite turtleneck and some leather leggings, you can’t go wrong.
3. Feelin’ Fuchsia
If I had to guess based on the Christian Siriano runway, fuchsia is about to be everywhere this fall and winter, folks. Forget wearing all black—It’s going to be a colorful autumn. This fun color plays well with neutrals or other fun brights, so go ahead and wear it how you please. Pair a fuchsia top with classic black skinnies or add a fuchsia skirt to an all-neon outfit.
This Ryan Jacket in Fuchsia Vegan Leather by STAUD is perfect for upgrading your everyday ‘fits. Swap your usual denim or leather jacket for this pop of pink and let the compliments roll in.
4. Dark Rose
Buy: OPT She's Picky Dress $135Forget stripes and dots—fall and winter 2020 are all about intricate, ditsy dark florals and funky pattern mixing. Think dark academia, but make it femme! The contrast of the dark colorways and the sweet florals is what makes the look exciting.
This OPT She’s Picky Dress is exactly your new go-to. Pair it with everything from black kitten heels to chunky combat boots, depending on how edgy of a look you want to style.
5. Long-Sleeved Gloves
Buy: Long Elbow Gloves $11.99According to the Tadashi Shoji runway, gloves! Are! Back! Forget only wearing these babies to a debutante ball—This elegant accessory is here to stay for any formal occasion in 2020. Whether they’re neutral or a colorful hue, you’re sure to stand out (and stay on trend) with gloves this year.
These long elbow gloves give me all the vintage vibes. Pair them with a chic mini dress this fall for a look that will blow them all away.
6. It’s Just Asymmetry
We saw a lot of asymmetry in the spring and summer 2020 trends, and based on looks shown by Proenza Schouler, it looks like they’re here to stay through fall and winter. Asymmetry is a fun style to play around with no matter your personal style, so go minimalist or bold. Either way, you’re sure to look hip AF.
One of the easier ways to try out the asymmetry trend is with a one-shoulder look. This ELOQUII One-Shoulder Bodysuit is sure to become a wardrobe staple this fall.
7. Wide-Brim Hats
Buy: Jelord Wool Trilby Hat $35.99There were so many hats on the Fall/Winter 2002 runways, and honestly, I’m all about it! Block out your haters and the sun with the trendy wide-brim style hat. Sure, they’re a little bit dramatic, but this accessory is sure to pack a punch with any ensemble. Don’t be afraid to attempt this fall and winter trend—You never know how amazing something might look on you until you try it out.
One tip to wearing a wide-brim hat without looking like you’re starring in a Western: Keep it simple. This white Wool Trilby Hat by Jelord with a thin gold band around the base is the perfect way to test out the trend and create a cool—but not too over-the-top—ensemble.
