The $8 Hyaluronic Acid Serum Used to Prep Reese Witherspoon’s Skin for Tonight’s Emmy Awards
According to her Instagram chronicles, Reese Witherspoon brought tonight’s self-described “shortest commute” Emmy festivities to her backyard to celebrate the cast and crews of The Morning Show, Big Little Lies and Little Fires Everywhere.
While the show may look a bit different this year, the 44-year-old had her trusty glam squad at her side—and a classic red lip, complete with a Louis Vuitton dress—as longtime makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan shared some interesting skin-care prep steps behind the glowing-skin look.
For starters, Deenihan applied what she refers to as “Holy Grail” The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Serum ($8) “to hydrate and plump the skin,” followed by a few drops of the brand’s Q10 Serum, a product she gives an A-plus to for its antioxidant arsenal.
“I applied a few drops of the Q10 serum, which is chock-full of antioxidants, protecting the skin against damage caused by free radicals and the environment—especially beneficial with the current poor air quality on the West Coast.”
The Peptide Moisturizer, Caffeine Eye Cream and Polyglutamic Acid Serum—“the perfect makeup base or ‘primer’ to lock-in moisture and create a thin veil over the skin, allowing makeup to glide on seamlessly for an overall even application,” according to Deenihan—rounded out the mix to make for a decidedly affordable all-under-$15 lineup of products.
“Virtual awards or not, makeup is makeup and proper skin prep is always essential before starting with any color,” Deenihan says.
