Estée Lauder Is Bringing Skin Care Into Orbit For Their Next Commercial
Estée Lauder, prestige makeup and skin-care company, is reaching for the stars in their next commercial, both literally and figuratively.
According to Vice, the billion-dollar brand is striking a deal with NASA in order to shoot the next commercial for their Advanced Night Repair face cream 248 miles above earth at the International Space Station.

About 10 bottles of the product will be brought up to the Station in the next cargo supply run this fall, but there’s a catch: The camera crew will not be a part of the run—astronauts will be shooting the video themselves.
The crew is expected to film the items in the zero-gravity environment at Estée Lauder’s discretion (sadly, no crew members will be in the actual video due to ethics policies). If the footage does make its way into a commercial, it would not be the first time an advertisement was filmed in space, “But it will mark one of the most high-profile cases of NASA offering up the American portion of the space station for capturing zero-gravity footage of a product,” says CNN.
Recently, NASA is on a different type of mission—one that boosts their outer-space marketing, exemplified by their new relationships with big brands like Lauder and Adidas, who sent soccer balls and shoes to the Station last July.
2020 has brought a lot of the unknown into play but we can’t wait to see how Estée Lauder and NASA bring skin care into orbit.
