“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are!”
I’ll admit that the first thing I thought when I saw pants like the ones I am wearing in this is post was that while they look so funky, they honestly can’t be all that flattering! I have always worn styles that have allowed me to show off my best features, one of which is the fact that I have a flat stomach and a smaller waist…

So how were these pants going to look good on me or anyone else? Well, here’s what I actually found…
- Paper bag pants are perfectly suited for people that have a defined waist and don’t carry their weight in their mid-section!
- When you wear a blouse or T shirt tucked in, it actually doesn’t distract from your waist and looks fabulous! Choosing a more form fitting top is best to minimize the feeling of being bulky around your waist.
- They work even if you’re shorter…just choose a pair of cropped ones instead.
- Wearing the wide legged paper bag pants if you’re plus size actually look fabulous.
- Layering and wearing jackets is fine, but only if you opt for thinner fabrics and lighter layers.
- These type of pants can give the impression of making you look shorter, so a pair of at least mid height heels is best. I prefer a higher heel, but find what works for you. Wedges also look fab!
- Accessories are important. Paper bag pants usually come with their own belt, but you can switch it up and add a great thin belt instead.
- A pair of statement earrings or a necklace is a great way to add some dimension to a plain top or blouse…and of course, they do exactly what they say – MAKE A STATEMENT!!
Now I’ve given you some guidelines to wearing these type of pants…are you ready to give it a go?
I always say that at the very least give something a TRY…you never know how you feel about it unless you find out for yourself! Seeing something on someone else doesn’t necessarily mean it’s going to be the same on you – which is why trying on clothes you’re not sure about is very important…
