My Experience with Wet N Wild Naked Protest Velvet Matte Lip Color Turnt Orange:
The “Wet N Wild Naked Protest Velvet Matte Lip Color” range has about 9 shades in its collection. This range has colors to offer that are mostly subdued and great for everyday wear. It promises to give a velvety matte finish to the lips, something which most girls actually look forward to. Let’s get into the details now.
Packaging: The lip crayon comes in a nice colour-coded packaging that strikes a perfect similarity with the colour of the crayon cap and also the base of the crayon. This lends an attractive touch to the lip crayon and also helps in easy identification of the shades. The brand name and other details are mentioned on the body of this bullet in white fonts. The cap closes securely in place. The shape of the crayon bullet is like a chubby pencil and it makes application on the lips very precise and even. The lip crayon has a swivel-up mechanism which is similar to a lipstick and you can take out as much product as you need. The size of the packaging is small, so it can easily come in your makeup bag. The shade code is mentioned on the bottom of crayon body. Overall, the packaging is travel-friendly and sturdy.
Shade: The shade “Turnt Orange” is a very light orange colour that is mostly suited for fair to medium skin tone. It looks very subdued and is great for everyday wear. This might wash out dusky skin tones. I love to wear this shade to college since it adds a nice pop of colour to my lips.
Pigmentation: The pigmentation of this lipstick is poor, not very rich and intense. It needs much effort to show the colour on the lips properly. On my lips, it needs 3-4 swipes to obtain the true colour payoff. Since the pigmentation is not very intense and much pigmented, you may find it difficult to hide your lip pigmentation with this lip colour. It is very easy to layer the product to build the intensity and does not get patchy on layering. This lipstick has no specific fragrance, so it will not be an issue for sensitive noses. This crayon is really easy on the pockets, so I cannot complain about the pigmentation at this price point.
I personally feel most of the colours in this range are not fit for Indian beauties. However, the shades “Hickory Smoked”, “Looking For Truffle”, “Turnt Orange” can be easily rocked by Indian beauties.
Texture and Finish: True to its description, this is a lipstick with a velvet matte finish. It has a smooth texture that glides on the lips effortlessly for an even application. It does not cause any pulling or tugging during application. It is very lightweight and feels like I have not applied anything at all. It takes about 1-2 minutes to settle down and then it does not budge or move from its place. Though this is a matte lipstick, it does not make my lips dry and flaky. It is very nourishing and it gives a healthy look. It acts as a good lip plumper and adds definition to my lips.
The formula is very lightweight and does not cause any discomfort when I rub my lips. It is ideal to be used for winters. It does not get patchy and does not highlight the harsh lines of my lips. This lip crayon is not completely transfer-proof and smudgeproof. So, it does get messy if it comes in contact with objects. One good thing about Wet N wild products is that they are vegan and cruelty-free.
Staying Power: This lipstick stays for a decent amount of time. It is surely not long-lasting. It can stay for about 2-3 hours without food or drinks. If you are having oily meals, then the formula breaks down from the center of your lips and gets removed completely. After that, you would need reapplication. After it fades away, it does not leave behind any stain. Removal of this lipstick is super easy. Any normal makeup remover can remove it completely.
Overall: The colour is truly gorgeous. But, pigmentation has disappointed me. It gives nice matte finish which I love. If you love matte lips but don’t want to be overshadowed by dryness, then this range is perfect for you. Overall, I loved my purchase.
