My Experience with Juvia’s Place Zulu Palette:
Packaging: The beautiful packaging having the theme of African culture renders a special place to Juvia’s place among eyeshadow palettes. All its palettes has been created and its cover design theme has also been incorporated very thoughtfully. The Zulu palette is a very colourful palette but its soft and sombre of white with illustrations of Egyptian goddesses looks very attractive. I absolutely love the packaging of all its products. The palette has a beautiful holographic touch to it on striking light. It comes in a sturdy cardboard box and comes packed in an outer paper covering which bears the same theme and pictures similar to the inside cardboard box. The packaging is quite sleek and can be carried easily. The lid cover shuts tight in its place. The size of the palette is also quite large coming to palettes from other brands. The only con in the packaging is that this palette does not come with an applicator brush. You must have your own set of eye makeup brushes for application. Overall, I am happy with its packaging.
Shades and Pigmentation: For those of you who have already seen this palette online, you must have already known by now that this is an incredibly gorgeous and affordable palette which contains a mix of gorgeous pinks, blues, corals, greens and reds, all very eye catching and are a steal deal at this price value. You get a total of 9 shades in this palette and they are a mix of shimmer, foiled chrome and matte shades.
The colour selection is so versatile and a lot of thought has been put in creating this palette. The colour combination will overflow you with ideas of creating different types of looks. I was so overwhelmed with the shade selection that my mind was in conflict with which shades to use for getting the perfect look. If you are fond of experimenting with different makeup looks, you must grab this palette at once. To add to the icing, festive season is nearby and this will be best suited and can be used to create festive looks. Let’s get to the individual shade details now.
Top Row: (L to R)
1. This shade is a very vibrant perfect orange shade and is matte in nature. It has decent pigmentation and one swipe is perfect to get the perfect payoff. Texture is smooth and soft and it can be used to create sunset makeup looks.
2. The second shade is a very bright pure yellow colour. The colour looks great in the pan but the intensity that you obtain when you first swatch it is quite less. It is easily buildable and you have to keep dabbing more colour to deepen the look. It works great as a crease colour.
3. It is a matte warm brown colour and it is a matte shade. The colour in pan looks intense but you have to work on this shade to build up that intensity. The texture is however soft and smooth.
Middle Row: (L to R)
1. This is a gorgeous forest green colour and it also has a matte finish. It has good pigmentation and has a nice texture. It blends very easily and is super easy to work with.
2. This is light metallic green shade and has a shimmer finish. It has awesome pigmentation and just one swipe is enough for the perfect intensity. It has a rich creamy and soft texture and it can be used on the eyelids to give a shimmery finish to the look.
3. This shade is also a shimmer shade and it is a perfect aqua-blue colour. It is pigment packed and needs just one swipe for maximum payoff. I love this shade a lot and it looks stunning and delivers a high finish.
Bottom Row: (L to R)
1. This is a very unique shade from the palette. It is a duo-chrome pinky golden colour. It has a beautiful metallic finish to it and contains stunning shimmers. It is great for festive looks and it is most favourite shade of mine from the palette. It just needs one swipe for full colour intensity. It is very easy to work with but the texture is smooth. I am absolutely obsessed with this colour.
2. It is another matte red shade and is a great choice for bold makeup looks. Pigmentation is perfect and texture is also good.
3. This is a matte purple shade which looks very pretty. A very interesting colour with nice pigmentation. It has nice texture and can used in the outer corners of the eyes.
Pigmentation is great for all the shades. They have excellent performance and I have no complains about them. Only a single swipe would give perfect opacity for the shimmer shades. Having this palette will be really good because it contains colours from almost all colour family. It is also a perfect companion for festive and party looks. The colours are really unique and show up on the eyes well. They give a beautiful colour-payoff and go with most of the outfits. Overall, the palette is incredibly gorgeous and I love it.
Texture and Finish: Coming to the texture of the shades, I would say the shimmer shades give better performance compared to matte shades. Also, the shimmer shades have a perfect buttery creamy and smooth texture and they are easy to work with. The colour goes opaque easily and there is no fallout at all. The matte shades also look incredibly gorgeous and are really fun to work with. But, some shades have to be worked with. I would suggest primer application for the matte to get the best colour coverage. Also, the shades don’t have much fallout but it is always a good idea to put setting powder underneath while you are doing your eye makeup.
For shimmer eye shadows, I prefer finger application because that helps to put the maximum colour on the area and a brush consumes a lot of product. The shades don’t feel patchy and ensure a smooth finish post application of primer. Another great thing that I noticed was the quantity offered. The pans are relatively bigger in size compared to other brands and this will last really long. Also, this brand is cruelty-free. I really loved the way this palette fared for me. Overall, I really love the blend of colours and their amazing finish.
Longevity: These shades stay in place for a good amount of time without any creasing. On my oily eyelids, it stays put throughout the day with primer application. It also did not crease. However, at the end of the day, I noticed the intensity was not as intact compared to when I applied it. I have to blame the humid weather for that. These shades are easy to remove as well. They come off easily with any oil-based makeup remover.
Overall: The quality of this palette is nice and it is a great addition to my collection. I love to play to bold and bright colours and this palette has everything I could ask for. I don’t have much complains about it. I know it is not available in India but if you can import it from abroad you should definitely go ahead with this. It is my first purchase from Juvia’s Place and I am really happy with it.
