My Experience with Juvia’s Place The Saharan Palette:
Packaging: The beautiful packaging having the theme of African culture renders a special place to Juvia’s place among eyeshadow palettes. All its palettes has been created and its cover design theme has also been incorporated very thoughtfully. The Saharan palette following the patterns of colourful packaging like all Juvia’s Place, comes with illustrations of Fulcani woman on a coral pink cover. The packaging looks extremely cute and I am absolutely raving about it. It comes in a sturdy cardboard box and comes packed in an outer paper covering which bears the same theme and pictures similar to the inside cardboard box. The packaging is quite sleek and can be carried easily. The lid cover shuts tight in its place. The size of the palette is also quite large coming to palettes from other brands. The only con in the packaging is that this palette does not come with an applicator brush. You must have your own set of eye makeup brushes for application. It also does not contain a mirror. On the inside of the cover, there is similar illustration of Fulcani woman. Overall, I am happy with its packaging.
Shades and Pigmentation: The Saharan palette is a great combination of both neutral and colourful hues in a single palette. This is an incredibly gorgeous and affordable palette which contains a mix of gorgeous reds, pinks, golden and other neutral colours, where all are very eye catching and are a steal deal at this price value. You get a total of 12 shades in this palette and they are a mix of shimmer, metallic and matte shades.
The colour selection is so versatile and a lot of thought has been put in creating this palette. This palette can be used to create endless number of looks. If you love warm tones with a pop of metallic shimmer on the eyes, then this palette is for you. Let’s get to the individual shade details now.
Top Row: (L to R)
1. Sokoto: This shade is a very vibrant reddish orange colour and is one of the favourite matte shades of mine from this palette. It has decent pigmentation and one swipe is perfect to get the perfect payoff. Texture is smooth and soft and is easily blendable. It has minimal fallout.
2. Wodaabe: The second shade is a gorgeous metallic golden shade, perfect for weddings and festive occasions. It is very creamy and has no fallout. It can be best applied with fingers.
3. Bororo: It is a shimmer coppery brown colour and has a nice metallic finish to it. It has bang on pigmentation. The texture is however soft, smooth and creamy.
4. Kia: It is a metallic, very deep teal shade. It comes with a creamy shimmer finish to it. It also has rich pigmentation and the texture is very smooth and creamy.
Middle Row: (L to R)
1. Zoya: This is a peachy golden shade with light shimmer finish. It has great pigmentation and is suitable for daily looks.
2. Iman: This shade is a pure pearly white shade. It can be sued mainly on the inner corners of the eyes and also in the brow bone area for highlighting it. It has matte finish and has little fallout.
3. Jamila: This is a rich matte orange colour which can be used to create nice festive looks. It is decently pigmented and the texture is soft and smooth. It is easily blendable.
4. Senegal: It is a metallic warm bronze colour. It appears shimmery and has a creamy texture. Only a single swipe gives the perfect pigmentation.
Bottom Row: (L to R)
1. Chad: This is a charcoal black matte colour. It has minimal fallout and has nice pigmentation. It can be used to deepen the eye makeup looks.
2. Katsina: This shade is a very pale warm brown colour. It needs a few swipes to get the same intensity as in the pan. This is a nice transition colour and is easy to blend.
3. Lulu: This is a metallic pink shade which looks very pretty. A very interesting colour with nice pigmentation. It has no fallout and is easily to blend. It is very creamy and is easy to work with.
Pigmentation is great for all the shades and the formula is very much consistent for all of them. For shimmer shades, the application is effortless and pigmentation is superb. But for the matte shades, it might require a few swipes for some of the shades but the formula is blendable. It is also a perfect companion for festive and party looks. The colours are really unique and show up on the eyes well. They give a beautiful colour-payoff and go with most of the outfits. Overall, the palette is incredibly gorgeous and I love it.
Texture and Finish: Coming to the texture of the shades, I would say the shimmer shades give better performance compared to matte shades. Also, the shimmer shades have a perfect buttery creamy and smooth texture and they are easy to work with. The colour goes opaque easily and there is no fallout at all. The matte shades also look incredibly gorgeous and are really fun to work with. But some shades have to be worked with. I would suggest primer application for the matte shades to get the best colour coverage. They have excellent performance and fallout issue is also minimum. Only a few matte shades have little fallout. But it is always a good idea to put setting powder underneath while you are doing your eye makeup.
For shimmer eye shadows, I prefer finger application because that helps to put the maximum colour on the area and a brush consumes a lot of product. The shades don’t feel patchy and ensure a smooth finish post application of primer. Another great thing that I noticed was the quantity offered. The pans are relatively bigger in size compared to other brands and this will last really long. Also, this brand is cruelty-free. I really loved the way this palette fared for me. Overall, I really love the blend of colours and their amazing finish.
Longevity: These shades stay in place for a good amount of time without any creasing. On my oily eyelids, it stays put for about 8-10 hours with primer application. It also did not crease. However, at the end of the day, I noticed the intensity was not as intact compared to when I applied it. I have to blame the humid weather for that. These shades are easy to remove as well. They come off easily with any oil-based makeup remover.
Overall: The quality of this palette is nice and it is a great addition to my collection. I am really pleased to have invested in this palette and I will keep buying more from this brand. I know it is not available in India but if you can import it from abroad, you should definitely go ahead with this.
