How to Get Rid of Crow’s Feet? Tips and Home Remedies
Crows feet.
Or laughter lines.
Or Character lines.
Hey, give them whatever cute name you can think of, it won’t change how we feel about crows feet. They’re unpleasant!
But what are they exactly and how can we get rid of them? Beauty and Tips has got all you need to know with our article dedicated to banishing crows feet with tips and home remedies.
What are Crows Feet?
The funny thing about crows feet is that they’ve got nothing whatsoever to do with our feet. Instead, crows feet are the lines and wrinkles that form around your eyes and which look a lot like, well crows feet!
They’re not a pretty sight to look at, but worse than anything else they tell us one thing: That we are getting old.
As if we didn’t need any reminder, crows feet are a very visible reminder that the cruel ageing process has started and that we aren’t immune to it.
On the other hand, the good news is that you can eliminate crows feet and thus slow down the ageing process!
Before we take a look at how to eliminate crows feet with effective home remedies, let’s take a look at what the prime causes are.
What Causes Crows Feet?
While crows feet are associated with the ageing process, not everyone gets them. Moreover, while you might have them, a friend who is the same age as you might not have them. How come?
It all comes down to lifestyle factors.
For example, habitual squinting is a major cause of crows feet. If you squint a lot, wrinkles will eventually form around that area.
It’s the same if you laugh a lot – wrinkles will eventually form.
This is because the more you pull a facial expression, the thinner your skin becomes. This is just natural. As you get older, your body isn’t able to rejuvenate itself as quickly or as effectively as it could when you were young.
Sleeping on your side all the time can cause crows feet, as can exposure to too much sunlight. While many of us enjoy soaking up the sun in the summertime, its effect on our skin can be mighty devastating.
Then there are free radicals – these are toxins in the environment that are hard to avoid.
Indeed, many of the causes of crows feet are, for lots of us, hard to avoid. The best we can do is to treat them via effective home remedies.
Home Remedies for Crows Feet
Egg Whites
Egg whites work purely and simply because they tighten your skin.
All you need to do is take a single egg white and beat it to create a foamy consistency.
Then, apply it to the affected area, as well as your cheekbones. Leave the egg white on for around 10 minutes before using a cotton ball soaked in water to clean it off.
If you do this twice a week, you will eventually see some results.
Another method you can try with egg whites is to apply one to your face after washing with soap.
Once you’ve applied the egg white, wait for it to dry totally before applying a second egg white. Leave this one on for around 15 minutes and then rinse with warm water.
Milk
Milk is a bit of an acquired taste, and we understand that not everyone likes it. If this is you, feel free to skip this remedy.
For everyone else, milk works because it contains something called glycolic acid. This is a exfoliator that can clear away dead skin cells while boosting your skin’s production of collagen.
All you really need to do is drink milk more often than you are doing now. For anyone who happens to love milk, this will be real easy!
Alternatively, you can take a clean cloth and soak it in milk. Then, apply it to your crows feet, before leaving it for around 10 minutes. Rinse with cold water and do this two times a day.
Another method is to add a pinch of almond oil to a bowl of cold milk. Dip two slices of bread into it before wrapping them in two pieces of cloth and placing them over your eyes.
Leave for 10 minutes before removing.
Aloe Vera
Is there seriously anything that aloe vera can’t do?!
Aloe vera can cure lots of things, and because it contains powerful antioxidants, it’s especially useful for tackling crows feet. Aloe vera is also rich in awesome minerals and vitamins that moisturise your skin.
All you need to do is consume a tbsp of aloe vera juice 1-2 times a day for visible results.
Papaya
Papaya works really well for clearing crows feet up because it’s got the all important vitamin C factor. This allows it to combat any nasty free radicals that are swimming around your body, intent on doing as much damage to your skin as possible.
Papaya also helps your body to produce more collagen, and because it comes fully loaded with papain, it’s able tighten your skin while removing dead skin cells. WIN.
All you need to do is take a piece of raw papaya and gently massage it onto your skin. Do this until it dries and then rinse your face with cold water. For best results, do this each day.
Or, you could grab a ripe papaya and scrape the pulp out of it. Then, mix with some oatmeal before applying the mix to you skin. Gently rub it and leave for around 10 minutes. Do this a handful of times each week (no need to do it each day).
Another option is to take half a ripe papaya and mash it up, Then, add a tbsp of olive oil to turn it into a face pack. Apply the pack to your face and leave until it dries. Do this every other day for best results.
Vitamin E
Vitamin E is one of the most powerful antioxidants there is that targets your skin, regenerating new skill cells and keeping your skin nicely moisturised.
Vitamin E tightens your skin too, and can clear up those annoying crows lines.
All you need to do is buy some vitamin E capsules and break two open. Load the contents into a bowl and then apply it to the skin around your eyes.
Do this each night before bed and you should soon start seeing results.
Coconut Oil
Like aloe vera, coconut oil is incredibly versatile and can cure a number of remedies. Because it’s a natural moisturiser that’s rich in vitamin E, it’s able to eliminate crows eyes by nourishing your skin cells and tissues.
Coconut oil also contains linoleic acid repairs broken tissues and slows down the ageing process.
It can treat sagging skin, too.
All you need to is take a few drops of coconut oil and gently rub them onto the affected areas before you go to bed. Do this until you start to see results – and then keep doing it!
Avocados
Avocados have been the flavour of the month for like 2 years now. The whole world is obsessed with them!
As well as adding them to your toasties, scrambled eggs and salad, you can also use avocados to clear up your crows feet.
All you need to do is slice one avocado in half and take out its pulp. Mash this up before applying it to any affected areas. Leave for up to 15 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
This works because avocado stimulates more collagen production. It also tightens the skin and can help to keep you looking nice and young!
Lemon Juice
Lemons solve so many things, and we’re often told to drink lemon juice each morning to flush toxins out of our system that have built up the night before.
When it comes to your skin, lemon juice works really well because it contains citric acid. This acts as an exfoliator that reduces the appearance of crows feet and blemishes. Pretty soon, you’ll be putting the brakes on that infernal ageing process!
All you need to do is take half a lemon and squeeze out its juice into a cup. Then, apply it to your skin.
Be extra vigilant – the last thing you want is for lemon juice to go into your eyes! It stings like heck!
Leave the juice to dry on your skin before rinsing with water.
Do this in the morning each day until you start seeing some visible results.
Cucumbers
Remember when your mom used to put cucumbers over her eyes? Bet you thought it was really weird as a kid!
Well, now that you’re an adult, it’s your turn to get all radical with a cucumber.
Cucumbers over a persons eye does look totally bizarre – we get that. But here’s the thing – it works! And that’s all that matters, right?
This method works because cucumbers contain important compounds, vitamins and antioxidants such as vitamins B5 and B6, thiamine, niacin and riboflavin that target ageing skin.
All you need to do is blend half a cucumber and pour the juice into your cup.
Then, carefully apply the juice to your skin, before leaving until it’s dried.
Rinse off with water.
And as you can see, we were just teasing you with the cucumbers over each eye thing! (although you can try that too).
Green Tea
Ever heard of a green tea face wash?
Sounds amazing, right?!
Green tea works because it’s so rich in powerful antioxidants. More specifically, it contains an antioxidant called catechins that reduce oxidative damage to your skin.
Essentially, when you apply green tea to your face, your skin absorbs the catechins, which then get to work on clearing up your wrinkles by making your skin tighter.
All you need to do is wash your face with green tea.
Seriously.
And if a friend comes over and asks where you are, just say “oh, just in the bathroom washing my face with green tea!”
OK maybe don’t say that.
And if you don’t like the idea of actually washing your face with green tea, take some cotton balls, dip them in tea and then dab them onto any affected areas.
Yogurt
Any dietician will tell you that yogurt should be an essential part of your diet. Why? Because yogurt contains probiotics that keep your digestive system ticking over nicely.
An when it comes to your skin, yogurt saves the day yet again. This is because it’s rich in lactic acid that acts as a natural exfoliator. It remove the germs and dirt that have become embedded in your skin, and it can also smooth out wrinkles and eliminate blemishes.
All you need to do is take a tbsp of yogurt and mix it with a tbsp of honey. Then, apply it all over your face and let it settle for around 10 minutes. Rinse off with water and in no time at all you should start to feel smoother around your face.
Why honey? Honey is known to be a humectant, which means that it moisturises your skin.
Eat Better
As well as doing any of the above, you also need to get your diet right.
Diet is so important, and often we can tell how good or bad someones diet is just by looking at their skin.
If you eat lots of junk and sugary food, it’s highly likely that you will age a LOT faster than someone who is into their super foods.
From now on, if you want to minimise the appearance of crows feet, you will need to get smarter about your diet.
Add more fruit, veg and grains to your diet. Consume more oily fish, nuts and drink lots and lots of water.
It’s also important that you keep your weight under control. The heavier you are, the more your skin will sag.
And with all of that, we wish you the best of luck!
Stay beautiful!
