Face primers are essential part of my makeup routine because recently I have started to notice some pores on my face which get accentuated by blush and highlighter. Pore tightening products by brands like Perricone MD and Etude House have significantly reduced the appearance of pores, but still I prefer to wear a primer underneath my makeup to improve the longevity of my makeup. I have not come across a lot of well-performing face primers. The ones I liked the most are by Smashbox and Benefit and they worked well for me, but I wanted to diversify, so bought this one by TonyMoly. I love Korean skincare products but I am not a big fan of their makeup products and no wonder I did not have a good experience with this primer/base.

My Experience with Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Goddess Maker Smooth Fit Cover Aura:
I apply face primer after my skincare routine and sunscreen application. If it is moisturizing or oil based, I use it all over my face and even mix it with my foundation. I have used this Tony Moly primer in a similar manner to compare its performance against other primers.
This product comes in a tube packaging. The packaging has an appealing pink color but we get only 15 ml of product for the price paid. The product is dispensed when the tube is squeezed. The packaging is cute which is a common feature for most of the Korean brands.
The product comes in the form of a runny lotion and resembles a body lotion rather than a base or a primer. It contains a long list of ingredients and some of them are essential ingredients that are beneficial for skin care. I am not sure why is it marketed as a primer or a makeup base. It does not have the usual features of a face primer. It does not have the usual slippery texture of other face primers, it does not make foundation application easier when mixed with it, and certainly does not reduce the appearance of pores. It has a faint brown tinge to it to make it more blend-able into skin, but it certainly is not meant for brown or darker skin tones, it is specifically meant for fair to pale skin toned beauties. It does not contain SPF but even so has a terrible white cast.
It contains some beneficial ingredients such as ceramide 3 which protects skin from damage and loss of moisture, Fructan which is a natural sugar with moisture binding properties that soften and nourish skim and has Phyto Collagen which keeps skin looking youthful and resilient. Even though it contains the goodness of these ingredients, I do not recommend this product to others because it failed to perform as a good face primer.
It is smooth and easy to spread but does not reduce the appearance of pores. It claims to add glow to face (hence the word “aura” in the product name) but that did not happen either. It might work for extremely fair and pale skin tones but I do not see myself using it in any manner.
Pros of Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Goddess Maker Smooth Fit Cover Aura:
- Comes in a cute tube packaging, leak proof.
- Comes in 3 variants.
- Not that expensive compared to other face primers.
- Has a runny, lotion-like consistency that spreads easyily.
- Has a subtle floral fragrance.
- Does not cause breakouts or acne.
Cons of Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Goddess Maker Smooth Fit Cover Aura:
- Availability can be an issue for some but most Korean brands are available on so many websites that it is rather easier for consumers to buy them.
- It has a terrible white cast and will not look appealing under bright lights. This is annoying since it does not claim to contain SPF.
- It has runny, lotion-like consistency and more than required amount of product is dispensed even without squeezing the tube.
- Does not reduce the appearance of pores.
- Claims to add glow to face but that did not happen either.
- Not meant for my skin tone.
Would I Repurchase Tony Moly Luminous Goddess Aura Goddess Maker Smooth Fit Cover Aura?
It is not a good makeup base and failed to serve its purpose. It did not cover pores or add glow to face. I do not recommend this product to readers and is not worth the buy.
