Eye lids: Pigmented and oily
Hey everyone,
I had purchased this single eyeshadow from the “Colour Crush” eyeshadow range of The Body Shop a few months ago. I didn’t have a yellow eyeshadow in my makeup kit and was desperately looking for a matte shade. I love to create colourful and tropical eye makeup looks due to which I am constantly on hunt for vibrant colours. Read onto know how this eyeshadow fared out for me.

My Experience with The Body Shop Colour Crush Eyeshadow Sunshine Love:
Packaging: The product looks quite big on the website but, it is a small pan of colour. To show how small it is, I have placed it next to my eye makeup brushes in the picture. It comes sealed in a small plastic casing which has a flip cap and can be locked easily. The name of the brand is embossed on the transparent flip cap and on the backside, the shade number and name of the eyeshadow in mentioned. The ingredient list is not enlisted on the packaging. There’s no separation between the product and the flip-cap, therefore some product can end spilling on the cap. Overall, the packaging is simple and its small size makes it travel friendly.
Pigmentation/Finish/Lasting Power: Coming to the performance of the eyeshadow itself. This eyeshadow can be used either wet or dry. I have used it in both the ways. The texture of the eyeshadow is like a finely milled powder and it goes on very smoothly on the lids. It doesn’t get patchy or blotchy. This is a matte shade with no iridescence. The shade itself can be described as chrome yellow, which is not a bright shade but has some orangish undertones. The pigmentation is average and for the hand swatch, I had to pack on a lot of product on the brush and swipe it twice.
Due to the pigmentation issues, it fades very easily while blending which can be annoying. I have pigmented eyelids, so to make this shade visible on my eyes, I have to prime my eyes sufficiently and start with a white base. To get the full colour intensity of this eyeshadow (as seen in the eye swatches), I used the product on a wet brush and then just layered it by patting on. Because a lot of product must be used to get the full intensity of the colour, this eyeshadow has minor fallout issues.
Once you have primed your eyes, put on a white base, use a wet brush, then you can finally see the colour of this eyeshadow. It’s a lot of effort for an eyeshadow, but I love this colour and use it a lot of my eye makeup looks. The lasting power of this product (with a primer of course) is 4-5 hours when used wet. I will not recommend using this eyeshadow dry as you will end up wasting a lot of product to get the same colour payoff as a wet brush.
Overall, this was an average product for me. The pigmentation is not that great and you must use a lot of product to see the colour on your lids. Drugstore makeup brands should really focus on making more pigmented yellow toned eyeshadows, there aren’t really a lot of options out there.
