“No one ever injured their eyesight by looking on the bright side!”
Recently I had someone ask me if I have always wanted to write a blog…and it got me thinking. What I realized is that even though I started by blog only a few years ago, I have kind of always loved style, fashion, walking to the beat of my own drum as well aDon’t compare…empower, use your style & fashion for confidence, seek inspiration helping others reach their potential.
It has always given me great satisfaction to be able to be there, to help and empower my friends & family – so when I started working on Stylequeenie I kept this in mind. I think that in the world we live in there is so much negativity and that is perpetuated by social media and our perceptions of the lives that people lead based on what we see them doing on Instagram, Facebook etc. I have heard stories of people shaming or bullying on social media and it breaks my heart. I realize that it is easy because it can almost be hidden from the world…to shame another person really sets us back individually, and aren’t we here to grow?
There are times when I compare myself and what I do to others, but that is probably the most self-defeating thing that anyone can do. Comparison is the thief of joy – it robs us from feeling good about ourselves, who we are and what we are capable of!
The world is definitely big enough for everyone, but it’s up to us to carve our own niche! I know that there are people out there that know so much more than I do about blogging, empowerment, style and so on, but that’s OK with me…in fact I use it to my advantage. Have you ever heard the expression that “success leaves clues”? What that means is I can seek inspiration from others and use that to make me better. When I first started my career in sales I made it my goal to surround myself with successful, powerful sales people that I could learn things from. I took what they did and adapted it to create a style for myself…and because I know that technique worked for me in the past, that is what I do now with blogging and my social media.
I feel confident and happy in my own skin, I am learning to find more joy in my journey of life because I think it’s important to do so much more than just exist. I know there are varying degrees of motivation, confidence and determination, but think about this…what if someone out there needs what you have to offer? What if what you have is exactly what they need to save their life??
I believe in the philosophy of “pay it forward” for this very reason. I believe that we are all pieces in a puzzle and the only way that puzzle can be complete is if we all believe in ourselves and work on reaching our potential!
I always tie in style and fashion with my blog posts because I do believe that when you feel good about yourself, when you tell yourself that you like who you are and how you look, that is what is going to be seen by the outside world. I have always considered style to be a way to express your unique personality, and as such, something that EVERYONE should pay attention to. I realize that not everyone is as enamored by style and fashion as I am, and for some it seems harder…but just like I said about following the clues of those that are successful, you can do the same with style and fashion. Sometimes all you need to do is seek a little inspiration and adapt it to yourself! You can shop similar looks to those I am wearing in this post by clicking the links below!
I hope this Wednesday that you will realize how important & how beautiful you are – and that no matter whether anyone says otherwise, you are ENOUGH!!
HAPPY WEDNESDAY…
