Ola folks,
I am back with reviews of some interesting and trendy lip products from my favourite drugstore brand, NYX Cosmetics. I have seen so many reviews and swatches of their Cosmic Metals Lip Cream range that I finally thought of giving it a shot. The brand describes it as a metallic lip gloss range which actually caught my fancy since I love hoarding products that have a metallic and glossy finish to them. I have got two shades – ‘Crystalized Metal’ and ‘Speed of Light’ from this range. Today’ review is on NYX Professional Makeup Cosmic Metals Lip Cream ‘Crystalized Metal’. I hope you find this review helpful.

My Experience with NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream Crystalized Metal:
NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream Crystalized Metal is a beautiful range of 10 beautiful and shining lip colours. All the shades look gorgeous and the colour selection is really nice. From subtle metallic nudes to bold metallic shades, this range is gorgeous. Okay, now let’s get into the packaging details.
Packaging:
The packaging of NYX Cosmic Metals Lip Cream Crystalized Metal is very much similar to other liquid lipsticks from NYX. The body of the lipstick tube is colour-coordinated but non-transparent, so you can get an idea of the shade inside by looking at the tube’s body. One thing that I don’t like about non-transparent tubes is that you will never know how much product is left. The tube has a glossy black cap that sits properly in place. There will be no unwanted leakage of the product inside. The body of the lipstick has a shiny kind of finish which looks very attractive.
Now coming to the applicator, it is exactly similar to other liquid lipstick ranges from NYX. It is a perfect doe-foot shaped applicator that helps in precise application of the lipstick. I love the applicator very much and I feel it comes in good use during application. The shade name, product description and other details are given on the body of the tube. Overall, I love the packaging.
Shade:
The shade ‘Crystalized Metal’ is a pretty but subdued barbie pink shade that has a pearly finish to it. This shade is very shimmery, but it is not too overpowering. It is perfect party-wear shade and the fine glitters in it bump it up to an extra level. Even when the shimmers are quite visible, it doesn’t make your makeup look over the top. This lipstick looks perfect on my skin tone. I love this shade a lot because it’s the perfect nude shade for fair skin tones from this range.
This shade is the most favourite among beauty bloggers and is my current favourite too. I was not sure about how much I would be able to pull off this particular shade because it is so shimmery, but when I tried it I was really impressed. I am sure it will look great on medium skin tones but it might wash out dark skin tones. One thing is to be kept in mind that out of all the shades only a very few are wearable. The rest are way too bold and not worthy to be purchased.
Pigmentation:
The colour goes opaque in one swipe. Pigmentation is very good, and you can easily layer the product for a more intensified look. On my lips, only a single swipe was sufficient for complete coverage and I did not have to re-dip the brush. The lipstick has no scent and hence no issues for people who are not very fond of fragrance in lipsticks.
Texture and Finish:
The shade is very easy to apply and goes super smooth on application. The application is even and it spreads nicely on the lips without any tugging or pulling. The formula has a slightly thick and gloppy texture and I can feel the presence of it on my lips. It feels quite sticky and tacky even if you apply a thin layer of it. It doesn’t settle to a matte finish but has a wet texture with a radiant metallic finish to it. Hence, it does not bleed or feather out of the lip line. The formula is not extremely hydrating but it is also not drying. It does not dry out my lips and the formulation is good. This lip cream gives a good plumping effect to the lips and renders them a fuller look.
For people who have dry lips, it will never highlight the fines lines of your lips. It doesn’t feel patchy which I feel is a plus point of this lip cream. It feels very hydrating and you can skip using a lip balm for getting softer lips prior to applying this lipstick. This lipstick is not completely transfer-proof and smudge-proof as the finish is wet. So, it easily transfers on coming in contact with objects. You can wear this as a stand-alone lippie for perfectly glittered lips. You can also layer this lippie over any other pink-based Lipcolour for a shimmery and glossy finish. It works pretty well in both ways.
Overall, I feel the cosmic metal range of lippies from NYX has an interesting formulation but it will fetch mixed reviews. I love glittery and glossy finished lip creams, so I love the texture. But somebody else who is a not a big fan of glossy formulations may not like it. So, texture wise the results will vary from person to person. Hence, if you are a matte lipstick lover, this type of formulation is not for you.
Staying Power:
This lipstick stays on my lips for about 4-5 hours. I think it is not very long-lasting at this price point. However, it can survive light meals with light fading but it does transfer to the body of the cup if you are sipping coffee or something. This lipstick will not be able to survive oily meals. Be careful because in that case the formula breaks down from the middle of your lips and glitter particles can spread everywhere on your face which looks horrible. This is one of the most probable cons that you will experience with shimmery and wet lip products. This lipstick has no issues during removal. It comes off easily with any normal makeup remover. But even after complete removal of the color, glitters don’t go off completely which is bothersome for me.
Overall:
I feel this is a great range to experiment if you are into glossy lip products. The finish is glistening along with a rich pigmentation. But it has disadvantages too in terms of formulations and staying power. My advice would be to see swatches of all the shades properly and then go ahead to make your purchase.
