Yes, I got more than one of these variants from Marks and Spencer. Honestly, I could do with one in each room of my house because it’s vacay time for kids and I get thrown out of the living room or my bed room at their whim and fancy because they wanna watch TV in that particular room or are doing a secret activity and need me out of there! So! Is that excuse good enough for this impulse buy?? I wonder…

My Experience with Marks and Spencer Nature’s Ingredients Cocoa Butter Hand Cream:

My skin type – except for my face, my skin is extremely dry. I used to have really soft hands at one time, but now, they are quite dry and dehydrated due to constant exposure to water and not enough skincare. So, in a bid to improve hand health, I picked up a couple (or more) of these Nature’s Ingredient Hand creams.

Packaging: The hand cream comes packaged in a simple plastic tube with a flip top from which the product can be easily dispensed out. The tube allows sufficient control on the amount of product being dispensed. There is no outer cardboard packaging or seal.

Fragrance: Here is the thing – cocoa is not my favorite scent. For one, I don’t like chocolate too much! I know, saying that is almost blasphemous! But there…I said it! I don’t like chocolate – unless you put some liquor/liqueur in it!! 😉 But I digress. I wasn’t keen on picking this variant, especially when they had half a dozen others to choose from, but the salesgirl kept pushing this one to me saying it is fantastic. I think she was a chocolate fanatic, but… I digress again.

I associate cocoa with the sweetness of chocolate and applying that on my body still seems weird to me. Though I do enjoy the Palmer’s Cocoa Oil for body – the smell of it still takes getting used to. Thankfully, with this hand cream, the cocoa smell is not as pronounced as in Palmer’s products. Also, there is a hint of vanilla in it – which kind of makes it okay.

Texture: The texture of the hand cream is quite consistent with other variants that I have tried from this line. The hand cream is extremely lightweight and easy to spread. Also, it absorbs quickly into the skin. It absorbs completely – without leaving any residue or stickiness. This is excellent coz it allows you to be able to continue working – like using your laptop, etc. without having to worry about getting smudge marks on everything.

Impact: With this, my hands feel soft and supple. It provides the necessary dose of daytime nourishment to the hands. It is definitely not an intensive hydration cream – like the L’Occitaine Shea Butter one; however, it works very well for the summer days. It will give your hands light mosturization and maintain the hydration level of the skin.

One last thing – even though the label says “cocoa butter hand cream,” and yes, cocoa butter has been used in the product, it is not the main ingredient. Actually, it is quite low in the ingredient list. Can’t say how much benefits of the cocoa butter are actually getting imparted to you. So, do keep that in mind.

To sum this up for you:

Pros of Marks and Spencer Nature’s Ingredients Cocoa Butter Hand Cream:

• Extremely lightweight.
• Absorbs quickly.
• Spreads easily.
• No white cast at all.
• No sign of greasiness or residue left behind.
• Does not stain.

Cons of Marks and Spencer Nature’s Ingredients Cocoa Butter Hand Cream:

• Not intensely moisturizing. The “cocoa butter” prominently mentioned on the packaging can make one think that it’s one of the main ingredients, it’s not actually.
• Not the most convenient to travel with – it’s a 100ml tube.

This hand cream performs adequately. I really cannot say that this one is very different from the shea butter one (reviewed earlier) because in each case, the name ingredient is fairly low in the ingredient list. This is actually not that surprising – considering the price point of the product and the fact that it comes in a 100ml tube – at that price point. Having said that, I do feel that you get what you pay for – a light moisturization. Whether you like this one will depend on how much you like chocolate…on your body! 😉
