“When you doubt your power you give power to your doubt!”
Have you ever heard that your outfit introduces you before you speak? It absolutely does because people are going to see you, pay attention what you’re wearing and form an opinion about how they think you are based on what they see. When you plan your outfits do you plan them with this in mind? I don’t mean do you wear what you think others will like or what would make someone like you more…what I mean is, does what you’re wearing tell a story about who you are? Does it let people know how amazing you are or do you prefer to blend in?
I do realize that not everyone is going to love everything that I wear, nor are they going to know me completely just by looking at me, but I do use my clothes to express my unique personality which means that I can attract other like-minded people into my life. When someone meets me they know I am not afraid to stand out, I am not shy, I am confident and as such, more confident and less shy people are more likely to want to approach me.
What kind of story do your outfits tell about you? I don’t think it is vanity to want to present yourself in the best light possible, in fact I think you owe it to yourself. People are not going to know anything about you when they first meet you other than what they see – and the best part of this is…we have control over that!
I know everyone out there at one time or another in their life has given thought and special care into putting an outfit together (even if it’s not something that you do every day, there are occasions where you will do it). I know sometimes it’s easier not to, but that in itself can tell a story about you. I guess the question is, what story do you want to tell others about you??
Wearing bold, bright colors and patterns is definitely a way to show you are confident and not afraid to be noticed, but that doesn’t mean someone that is confident is not going to wear Black or neutral tones either. There are some days when I love to really put myself out there and other days when I feel just as confident wearing a Black dress – because I always add a touch of my personality (either in the accessories or the shoes).
In the outfit I am wearing in today’s post the pants are definitely bold and bright, but I added a touch of femininity in the eyelet top, and the yellow pumps add some sass and tie into the colors of the pants. My lipstick is bright Pink which definitely draws the eyes to your mouth, so what you wear on your lips means people are probably going to notice more of what you say and how you say it.
Before I started writing my blog I had never really given much thought into why I was attracted to wear certain things, it just felt good to me…but I am now paying attention and I can definitely tell you that what we wear does 100% have an impact on how others treat us, how we feel about ourselves and how confident and happy we can feel.
I don’t know about you but with all the outside forces that we have no control over, I will take whatever control I do have and use it to my advantage
Don’t just make it through the week…strut your way through to the weekend!!
