Hello ladies,
I shared a sneak peek of my eyeshadow haul in my last Colourpop review. Today’s review is on another one form that collection….this is actually a pressed pigment and not really an eyeshadow. Let us find out more about it.
Product Description:
Pressed Powder Pigment A vibrant and creamy formula that delivers maximum payout for an intense look.
Price:
USD 5 for 1.5 gm.
Ingredients:
Talc, Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Boron Nitride, Zinc Stearate, Lauroyl Lysine, Dimethicone, Magnesium Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Silica, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Dimethiconol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Mica (CI 77019), Red 40 Lake (CI 16035), Red 7 Lake (CI 15850), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).
My Experience with ColourPop Fortune Cookie Pressed Powder Shadow:
Packaging: The product comes in individually packaged in a plastic sleeve. The same is then enclosed in a cardboard cover. There is no ingredient list or product name on the sleeve. The product name is mentioned on the flip side of the eyeshadow itself. Colourpop keeps the sleeves constant for all shadows (instead of personalizing each as per the shadow). This is understandable because it helps to keep the cost down for the brand. And as far as consumer is concerned, it doesn’t make a difference as we will anyway pop them out into a magnetic palette. You will need a magnetic palette to store these – the pans do not have magnet at the bottom.
Shade: “Fortune Cookie” is described by the brand as matte, vibrant hot red is a medium, bright pink toned poppy red with a matte finish. Again, just like the shade “Koi,” this shade too has been on trend for the last couple of years and has made recurring appearance in one palette after another – apart from singles. If you have been on the eyeshadow scene for the last 2 years at least and bought any of the new palettes – you would probably already have this shade in your stash. And if you do, trust me, you don’t need a backup. Not because it a bad shade, but because we probably don’t use the shade as much as our neutrals. It would make for a lovely edgy transition shade and can be easily used as a lid color too.
Texture: The texture is quite soft, smooth, finely milled and not very powdery either. I did not experience any fall out with it – which is great considering how bright the shade is. When used for transition, it blends easily and smoothly – without getting patchy. When used as a lid color – it applied smoothly and opaque. Do note that though this is part of the eyeshadow collection at Colourpop, they have a disclaimer running on their website stating that “*Not intended for use in the immediate eye area.” Basically, the pigment is not eye safe. So, ideally, do not use it too close to the eye area and if you do – it is pretty much at your own risk, the brand is not liable.
Pigmentation: The product isn’t a powder shadow but a powder pigment instead so, not surprisingly, is super pigmented. You can see the swatches I shared – including the one with a single swipe of the product. The shade applies easily and shows up true to pan.
Staying Power: I apply my eyeshadows over a primer because my lids are way too oily. The shade gave about 8-8.5 hours of wear time before showing signs of fading. This shade does not crease on me.
Pros of ColourPop Fortune Cookie Pressed Powder Shadow:
- A bright poppy pink toned red shade.
- Good pigmentation.
- Blends out easily.
- It does not emphasise texture of my skin.
- Good wear time – with primer – about 8-8.5 hours.
- Vegan.
- Cruelty free.
Cons of ColourPop Fortune Cookie Pressed Powder Shadow:
- The pigment is technically not eye safe. *Not intended for use in the immediate eye area.”
IMBB Rating:
4/5
In the FOTD, I have used it in center/middle 1/3rd of the lid.
It is a stunning shade and would probably double up as a blush in a pinch. However, considering the pigment is not safe for the immediate eye area; I would suggest you to pick a similar shade – which is eye safe than to constantly struggle during application wondering if it’s gone too close to your eyes. Not worth the hassle.
