“If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought!”
Did you know that a child’s self esteem and confidence peaks at age 9. Unfortunately it is all downhill from there. What if you could take yourself back to being that 9 year old and erase whatever circumstances halted or even reversed your self confidence.
We’ve all had things that have happened to us, and some of those things could be something as simple as being teased for your height, your weight, your looks, etc. I’ll be honest, I was a late bloomer, and I was very concerned about being flat chested until I was around 15, and I was under 5 feet until I was around 13. Yes, I was teased, I had a nickname that wasn’t very nice – I was known as “stumpy” because I was short. Yes, it made me feel bad, but somehow once I grew it went away and I kind of forgot about it. I think it still lingers with me a little now I am older because I don’t like wearing flats very much and when I do I feel super short.
What if I told you that you can in fact erase all those bad things that have happened to you, if you recognize what they are and realize they are your triggers. Self confidence is something that comes more naturally to some than others, but we all have the power within us to hold our heads up and know we are the wonderful person that we have been created to be. The past few years have been quite a journey of personal growth and revelation for me…at times my self esteem has been rocked. I have felt insignificant and “less than”, but instead of curling up into a ball and believing things that people were trying to make me believe, I made a choice. I decided that I am the master of my own destiny. I get to decide who and what I am in this life and that the actions of NOBODY can change that.
I have found that I love to express myself through my style and I definitely don’t follow rules, guidelines and I only ever wear something if it is something I love – not what the latest trends dictate we SHOULD be wearing! By choosing to be me, it helps me control who I am (which is honestly the only thing I can control). The outfit I am wearing in this post is not totally unique, but I did add my own twist. I added a pair of fishnet ankle socks by Kate Spade to give the look a little more funk!
I’m telling you a little about my story to let you know that no matter who someone is, how you perceive them, everyone has their path and sometimes it has been rocky! It is definitely easy to look at someone, especially with everything we see on social media, and judge them for what we “perceive” to be true. It is human nature to want what others have, to wish we could do the things that others can do and so on. This only becomes a problem when we allow that to dictate how we feel.
I 100% believe that we can determine our own destiny by our thoughts. Don’t get me wrong, we still need to take action, but I tell my kids all the time “how much more do you accomplish when you go about something with a positive attitude rather than being bugged that you have to do it?” No matter how positive you are you are still going to have bad or hard things happen in your life, but if you have already figured out how to be positive about things, when these things come along, they definitely don’t seem as bad.
You see two people walking down the street, one has their head down and has a furrowed brow or a frown on their face, while the other makes eye contact with you and even smiles. Which person are you most drawn to? I know what my answer is…and I am guessing yours is the same. Bottom line, if we want to attract nice people, things, circumstances and happiness into our life, we need to focus on having a good attitude about things even when they are going wrong.
I have studied the human body quite extensively, and my degree is even in Physiology. What I learned is that the cells of our body are basically magnets to negativity and positivity. In a nutshell, what you give is what you get.
So, this week, if you want to look more beautiful, start by thinking good, happy, positive thoughts!!
