Skin Tone: Medium fair, warm undertones

Maybelline has recently launched their new collection of matte lipsticks with a metallic finish and they are called :Maybelline Colorsensational Matte Metallics.” There are 10 shades in this range and I have picked up 8 out of the 10 🙂 I have already reviewed “Copper Rose.”In this post, I am going to share my views on the shade “Pure Gold.” Read on for more details about the product.

My Experience with Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick Pure Gold:

The packaging of the lipstick is regular, just like all other lipsticks from the “Colorsensational” range. Only the color of the cap is different. The lipstick tube is rectangular and comes wrapped in a cellophane paper, which has all necessary details about lipstick. The tube has a mirror finish and closes with a long, translucent, black-colored plastic cap.

There is a color-coded sticker at the base of the lipstick tube which bears the shade name and number. The brand’s tagline is printed on the lipstick tube in small black fonts. Overall, the packaging is basic and travel friendly, nothing fancy about it.

“Pure Gold” is a glittery bright golden lipstick. It is different from L’Oreal Paris Color Riche Gold Obsession Lipstick in Le Gold. “Le Gold” is more yellowish whereas this Maybelline Pure Gold is slightly orangish. This lipstick has medium-sized golden shimmer. The shimmers don’t look too chunky, but it does look OTT when worn alone. This shade is great as a top coat on other lipsticks to add dimension and metallic finish to your favorite lip color.

A dash of gold is good and unique for parties and wedding events and definitely different from usual lip colors. It can be used to create an ombre effect in combination with other lipsticks. It is definitely not an everyday lipstick. According to the brand, this shade is most flattering for fair skin tones. It looks quite different from the usual lip colors. Usually, metallic finish lipsticks come in creme formulation, but “Pure Gold’s” matte formulation makes a difference.

Most of the lipsticks in this range have average pigmentation. This shade is also sheer in pigmentation but it is buildable. Two to three swipes are needed to get proper coverage. It has a mild vanilla fragrance, which is barely bothersome. The texture of the lipstick is soft and smooth. It glides easily on the lips but it drags a little if the lips are not well exfoliated and moisturized.

The texture is so soft and smooth. It is lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not have a thick or heavy texture. It does not feel sticky. The formula is neither too drying nor really moisturizing, so I always use a lip balm beneath to keep my lips hydrated for long. The lipstick does not have creasing tendency, but it looks slightly patchy.

It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips, it does not transfer as much. It lasts for approximately 3-4 hours on my lips without having any meals. It fades away completely after having meals. It does not leave chunky shimmers behind and it is easy to remove. Overall, I liked the quality and unique shade range.

Cons of Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Metallics Lipstick Pure Gold:

• Pigmentation could have been better.
• Does not survive meals.
• Not really moisturizing.
• Looks slightly patchy.
