Hi ladies,
An ideal foundation makes your face look spot-free and flawless with proper blending. But, some foundations tend to look dark after application and it could be because of number of reasons. Let’s talk about all of them in this post today.
1. Invest in a Primer
Many of us tend to not use a primer which may be the reason for your foundation to turn dark. A primer before applying foundation creates a barrier between the foundation and your skin. This will reduce the contact between your natural oils and the pigments in the foundation. Silicone based primers work best in this regard.
2. Don’t Overdo it!
As they say too much of a good thing is also bad! If you apply more primer than required, then your makeup will bunch up and roll or flake off your face. If you apply primer in excess, then it will make it difficult to layer on other products. So, use it in proper amounts and not more than that.
3. Don’t Over-Powder During the Day
We all powder our skins to blow excess oils from the skin, but if you have really oily skin and if you are powdering it frequently, then you will be left with a cakey looking face with dark patches of foundation all over.
4. You’re Using the Wrong Powder
Some loose powders have too much pigment in them which can change color of your foundation when your skin becomes oilier during the day. So, use a translucent powder to avoid it.
5. Know your Undertones
It is crucial while choosing the right foundation tone for your skin. If you are using the wrong shade of foundation, then it can make your face look darker or lighter than usual. So, know your undertones well before choosing a foundation.
6. Balance your Skin’s pH Levels
An acidic pH level on your skin can trigger oxidation process which can make your foundation look darker during the day. You can use diluted ACV as a toner on your face which will help your skin to find the ideal balance between dryness and oiliness.
7. Choose Moisturizer Wisely
Choose a foundation keeping in mind your skin type, skin concerns and weather. Wrong foundation will again trigger the oxidation process, which will in turn make your foundation look really orange or darker than intended.
8. Use a Good Makeup Setting Spray
I think this is a no brainer! A good makeup setting spray will ensure that your foundation stays just the way it is supposed to be on your face with the rest of your makeup.
9. Go for an Oil-Free Foundation
An oil-free foundation which is the ideal match to your skin is your next bet if you face the problem of foundation turning darker after application often!
10. Use Blotting Tissues
Instead of over-powdering as mentioned above, use tissues to blot away excess oils from the skin. Do this before and after applying foundation to help makeup last long in its true colour.
