My Experience with Fenty Beauty Killawatt Freestyle Highlighters – Girl Next Door/Chic Phreak and Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule:
Today, I am reviewing these two Kilawat highlighters from Fenty Beauty. The first duo that I am talking about is Girl Next Door/Chic Phreak. I absolutely love enjoy using Chic Freak and Girl Next Door. It’s a duo highlighter palette, there are two colors in the palette. “Girl Next Door” is a lighter pale peach kind of a highlighter and it’s a little cool toned.
It can sometimes look whitish against your skin tone if you have very warm skin. So, you have to be careful because it’s a very subtle color, so if you are not into very strong highlighters, this could be a nice color. The best part is that there are two colors. The second one, which is “Chic Phreak,” is a gorgeous rose gold color with golden shimmer. It is a very warm color. You can use Chic Phreak and Girl Next Door individually or mix them together. Chic Phreak is more pigmented than Girl Next Door, and has stronger highlight to it. The shimmer in Chic Phreak is also chunky. I would say that Chic Freak can accentuate the pores on your cheek, so just be careful, but I love the overall effect that these highlighters give to the cheeks and they literally give that “wet glow” on the skin. I have also used them a lot many times in my videos on “Rati Beauty.” You can check them out on the app. These are absolutely stunning highlighters.
Coming to the staying power, I have pretty much worn them for 7 to 8 hours without fading. They soften over a period of time, but do not fade away completely. They have not broken me out. I always like to use the two of them together, because sometimes, as I have mentioned previously, the lighter one, which is “Girl Next Door,” can look a little whitish on skin tone, but “Chic Phreak” with its warmth and “goldness” balances it out. So, I just swipe the brush between the two of them, they don’t give that very strong highlight ,but you can build them up, I like that because I am someone who does not like very very shiny highlight. I like it to be somewhere between light highlight and a stronger one. I really love it. I would say it would be good for people with light to medium skin tones and i absolutely love it.
I would rate it 4/5 only because it is not available in India.
Talking about the packaging of these highlighters, they come in the classic, white hexagonal packaging with a holographic kind of an effect. The only thing is that it’s a little difficult to open sometimes. These highlighters come with their own mirror. There is no brush attached to it, which I think is not the most negative thing, but if you want to travel with it, you can just use your fingertips and use it quickly.
The second duo, which is “Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule,” is an extremely excellent highlight for those with medium to dusky skin tones and it is so stunning, it is not funny! There are two highlighters in this duo – Ginger Binge is a subtle highlighter whereas Moscow Mule is a chunky highlighter. The shades are dark rose gold color. Even if you have chocolatey skin, this is your highlighter and you would love it.
The texture is so smooth and fine. It has that coppery rose gold look to it, which is very unique to a highlighter. I have never seen a highlighter like this. “Ginger Binge” is very subtle and soft highlighter and almost has a metallic sheen on the cheeks. Moscow Mule is more chunky, it has more chunky gold glitter which can accentuate your pores, but as I always feel, that you should mix them both and see how your skin feels that day or use them sparingly.
The texture, the smoothness, and everyone of these highlighters is so beautiful. I am literally obsessed with these highlighters. If you have light to medium, especially medium skin tone, you can use it as a blush and it would look perfect. But if you have dark skin tone, this is your highlighter. Fenty Beauty has really made dusky skin tones girls so proud of their complexion because now you have your highlighter and you don’t have to compromise with any other color. You just have a highlighter which is meant for you!
IMBB Rating:
5/5 and special kudos for bringing up such amazing colors for women of color – they are so stunning, so beautiful, hard to describe!
That’s my review of these highlighters, hope you like it 🙂
