Skin Type: Normal to oily, sensitive and acne-prone (tends to get dry patches in winter)
Greetings everyone,
Today, I will be sharing my views on rice wash off mask from “Skinfood”, which is more like an exfoliating wash-off mask. I had this mask in my stash since a long time, but didn’t tend to use it much. To know more about it, let’s get into the details.
Price:
$10.00 or INR 700 for 100 gm
Product Description:
Use this mild exfoliant just once a week to keep your face looking youthful and radiant. This light, milky wash-off facial mask gently sloughs off dead skin cells while the rice extract brightens your skin and gives it a healthy, dewy glow.
Ingredients:
Water, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, Caprylic/Capric triglyceride, cyclopentasiloxane, Cetyl alcohol, Glycerin, propylene glycol, oryza sativa (rice) bran water, stearic acid, Polysorbate 80, hydrogenated jojoba oil, Glyceryl stearate, peg-100 stearate, Sorbitan stearate, Carbomer, Dimethicone, Triethanolamine, sodium acrylates copolymer, sucrose Cocoate, Tocopheryl acetate, disodium Edta, methylparaben, imidazolidinyl urea, butylparaben, fragrance.
How to Use:
Gently massage the mask onto a freshly washed, damp face, avoiding the eyes. Leave on for 10-15 minutes, and then rinse the mask off with warm water. We recommend using this mask once a week.
My Experience with Skinfood Rice Mask Wash Off:
Skinfood rice wash off mask comes in a semi-opaque plastic tub packaging with a screw lid. I don’t like scrubs and face masks in a tub. These are those things that you may need less or more and sometimes, you may have to scoop out more during the process. On the top of the tub packaging, most of them do not provide any spatula. Yes, there is no spatula provided with this wash off mask. Hence, it is recommended to scoop out the required amount of product in one go itself, either with clean hands or with a spatula. All the information is written over the tub in both Korean and English. Hence, there is no difficulty in accessing the information about this mask. The material is sturdy and lightweight, making it travel-friendly as well.
Unlike black sugar wash off mask and strawberry black sugar wash off mask from the same range, this mask is very moist and soft. The mask itself is very mushy and looks like a mixture of water and cooked rice – you know what I mean. The texture is very rich and creamy. It gets spread over the skin very easily and does not irritate it. The mask is milky in appearance and has grain like particles. I can’t tell if these are actual rice grains because, these are transparent and feel like some plastic or rubbery to be exact, which are meant for exfoliation.
What I didn’t like about this mask is its fragrance. The fragrance is very strong, artificial and off-putting for me. Though liking or not liking fragrance is a personal choice, but I had to mention it. I had expected it to be mild and resembling rice, but it is nowhere near to the scent of rice. I have a sensitive nose, and can’t stand strong fragrance. Moreover, fragrance could also be responsible for breakouts, but thankfully it does not cause any breakout. Thus, this is the only reason I don’t find myself reaching out to this mask often as others. However, if you like your mask to be all scenty, then you will like this. The fragrance is noticeable from starting to the ending of the process; the moment I open the lid and apply the mask till I wash it off.
How I use it? First of all, I cleanse my face with a mild cleanser and follow up with spreading the mask evenly over the damp skin. After spreading, I massage my face and neck in circular motions for a couple of minutes; not more than that. Since I have started using chemical exfoliants in my skincare routine, I keep manual scrubbing to a minimum. Though the particles are soft, it is important to massage with light hands to avoid any irritation. After massaging it for a couple of minutes, it almost becomes transparent, but the particles are visible.
Post massaging, I leave it for the next 15 minutes, and then rinse off with lukewarm water. When I try to wash it off with normal water, it becomes very slippery and takes much time. Sometimes, it leaves residue behind. On the other hand, when I use lukewarm water, it is easy to rinse it off and there is no residue left behind.
Post rinsing, it brightens up the skin that is visibly noticeable, but something not dramatic or applauding. Also, the brightening effect is temporary. In terms of moisturisation, it works okay okay. It is not that moisturizing, but at the same time it does not make the skin dry. In all, my skin neither feels dry, stretchy nor plump. So, I am not complaining in terms of moisturizing. The best thing about this mask is that it makes my skin very soft. Since this is a mild exfoliating mask, it does nothing special for whiteheads.
