My Experience with NYX Full Throttle Lipstick Up The Bass:
Let’s begin with the packaging of this baby. The lipstick comes in a sleek, glossy, black plastic tube with a color-coded cap from the top that helps to easily spot the shade. The cap of the lipstick tube shuts very securely making a click sound and ensures that the lipstick packaging is purse friendly. The range name is printed in white on the tube along with other necessary product-related information.
The lipstick has a normal twist-up mechanism, which works pretty smoothly. The shape of the lipstick bullet is quite different from usual lipsticks. The bullet has a pentagon shape with different edges. Overall, I did not find any cons with the packaging except that the bullet of one of these lipsticks got detached from the base.
“Up The Bass” is a neutral red color. This is a lovely shade which would suit all Indian skin tones. This is a perfect party shade and instantly brightens up the complexion. It is a bold color, not for weak-hearted people. I am a die-hard lover of red lipsticks and I am in love with this one too. It is a glam lipstick shade to rock parties and weddings. The lipstick does not contain any sheen or shimmer. It sets to a soft velvety matte finish initially and later on it looks perfect matte on the lips.
The formula is amazingly pigmented. One swipe gives opaque coverage and covers the pigmentation of the lips. I apply two coats to get perfect and even color on the lips. The color spreads evenly on the lips and never gets patchy. It does not give any streaky finish. There is no significant smell in this lipstick, which is a pro for people who do not appreciate fragrance in their makeup products. The edgy bullet is pretty useless and since the formulation is too soft and creamy, it slips during application and does not create sharp lines. So, I prefer applying this lipstick with a brush rather than directly from the bullet.
The texture of the lipstick is incredible. I found its texture similar to Sugar Cosmetics Matte As Hell Crayons. It is so soft and smooth and glides effortlessly on the lips like a lip cream and once it comes in contact with skin, it sets pretty quickly to an ultra matte finish within seconds. It goes pretty smoothly on the lips without causing any drag of the lips. Normally matte lipsticks have the tendency to cling on to the dry patches of the lips but not in the case of this one. It does not highlight dry patches, but still, you need to prep the lips well to get a perfect finish. The formula is lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. The lipstick is smudge proof and transfers a little bit. It survives normal sipping and light snacks, but fades away from the center after a heavy meal. The lipstick is very moisturizing and it has a non-drying formula. It keeps my lips hydrated all the time. It does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
The lipstick lasts for approximately 6-7 hours on my lips with a little fading. It leaves a light stain behind, which can be taken off easily with a good makeup remover. This lipstick gets removed well with an oil-based remover since it sticks to the lips like a waterproof lipstick.
