10 Tips On How To Increase Your Height After 18
Feel like you’re too short? In this article, Beauty and Tips takes a look at 10 tips on how to increase your height after 18.
It’s not easy being short, especially if you dream of being a model. Height has always been associated with prestige and attractiveness, and in modern culture at least, taller people are usually looked on more favourably than their shorter counterparts. We also associate tall people with power. If a leader comes to power who isn’t especially tall, they are made to look taller. It’s the same in movies and TV shows; the lead is always made to look taller than everyone else. As such, it’s only natural that your ambition is to be taller. But how how to increase your height after 18? Use these tips to grow taller.
Rope Jumping
Remember skipping with ropes when you were a kid? Perhaps the reason you’re not as tall as you’d like is because you stopped too soon! It’s time to get your skipping ropes out again, as rope jumping is a great way to increase your height. For beginners, to up to 3 sets of five jumps, while always making sure to land smoothly. The last thing you want to do is injure your knees or feet. Stand straight, engage your core, relax your shoulders and skip.
Eat Right
How’s your diet? If you don’t eat a well-balanced diet rich in macros, micros, fruit and vegetables, you’ll struggle to get to the height you desire. This is because your body’s systems require you to give it the right nutrients to ensure that everything is working optimally. If you feed it junk, it will flounder with a slow metabolism, poor circulation and weak bones. And all of this can cause shortness. A well-balanced diet should contain the right amount of vitamins, nutrients, complex carbs, essential fats and proteins. Food is your fuel. From now on, eat well and watch your body shoot up.
Stretch
It might sound like an old wive’s tale that to get taller we have to literally stretch our body, but hey it works! Stretching relieves lower back stress and it stretches your spine out to its full, natural length. There are numerous yoga poses you can try, which we’ll get to soon, but stretching needs to be complimented by regular exercise and a good diet. See above and below!
Exercise Often
This is another good tip on how to increase your height after 18. If you’ve rarely exercised before or never at all, this is probably the last thing you want to be told what to do! But exercise is really important if you want to add a couple more inches to your height. All you need is a gym membership (or just a pool membership will do) and some running shoes, and you’re good to go. Exercise is key because physical activity is key. Without physical activity at the young age, your bones won’t strengthen or grow as much as you’d like them to. It works because a regular work out stimulates our nerve ends which we associate with our pituitary gland, which secrets HGH to increase our height, even once we’ve reached eighteen years of age.
Sleep More!
Now for the much easier bit: Cosy up in bed and get more sleep! Many people nowadays live stressed and hectic lives, and they don’t get enough sleep. “Sleep is for the weak!” they cry. However, sleep is important for many things, not least our height. It’s during sleep when your pituitary gland is super active. However, it’s not enough that you sleep any old way. Rather, you should be mindful enough to make sure that your posture is correct. Try to straight your spine as you sleep and, if possible, try sleeping without a pillow.
Get More Sunshine!
This getting taller larker is fun, isn’t it?! Not only do you get to sleep more, you also get to spend more time in the sun! Does exposure to sunlight really increase your height after 18? It sure does and it’s all down to vitamin D. Without adequate amounts of vitamin D in your body, your bones won’t grow as well as they could do. And because the big yellow ball in the sky is rich in vitamin D, it’s a great way to get more of it into your system before it’s too late. Catching the sun as it rises is a fab idea, but if you’re not a morning person, the next best thing to do is to sunbathe late in the afternoon. This is because ultraviolet radiation isn’t as powerful at these times. And as you know, too much exposure to UV rays can actually be kinda powerful.
Do Yoga
Yoga is a bit different to regular exercise but if you’re trying to increase your height, the end results are the same as it improves your posture, making you look taller. Get yourself down to a local yoga class and try the various poses, including the mountain pose, the cobra pose, the downward dog pose, the triangle pose and the shoulder stand.
Avoid Alcohol
This will be a tough one for some of you, but alcohol inhibits growth. Basically, if you want to get taller now that you’ve reached 18 you’re going to have to make some sacrifices, and giving up alcohol is one of them.
Avoid Smoking
If you regularly drink alcohol and smoke, you’re pretty much on a hiding to nothing at this point. Smoking is a massive growth inhibitor as it boosts the presence of carbon monoxide in your body’s bloodstream. When there is too much carbon monoxide present, the flow of nutrients and blood to key areas of your body is restricted, which in turn stunts your growth. Not cool.
Wear Lifts
Lastly, if you’re not seeing the natural results you wanted, the next best thing is to wear lifts. This is kind cheating but all the movie stars do it when they need to look taller in a scene. There’s nothing wrong with it and it’s a great way to boost your esteem. All you need is a pair of lift shoes. It’s totally foolproof!
