“Look for something positive in each day, even if you have to look a little harder on some days!”
Yesterday I talked about how crazy it is that we get frustrated by things outside of our control, and how sometimes I feel down by the weather…
When I woke up this morning I loosed outside and while it is still chilly, I looked around and saw beautiful sunshine and blue skies. What it made me realize is that no matter what challenges or struggles we have going on in our lives, there will always be a blue sky coming. It can really be hard to keep a positive attitude when things aren’t great, but no matter how hard things can be, the only thing we really know for sure is that things always change.
This can be true for both positive and negative…I am sure you have experienced times when you have been really happy, finances are great, family is great, everything seems to be going the way you want it, and then suddenly something happens that derails you. Or, you have been struggling, feeling really down, and then out of nowhere someone does something to help you or you find a light at the end of the tunnel. It is not possible to be able to control everything happening in our lives, but we can certainly control how we reacts to it and how we feel about it.
So, as I woke up, saw the blue skies and sunshine, it gave me a sense of optimism that I can do and be anything I want to be. I feel like I am able to see things more clearly when I feel that optimism and suddenly tasks that have been procrastinated are things I’m ready to take on – like organizing our storage room – YAY!
If you were able to let go of trying to control what could you accomplish? Are you happy running on the hamster wheel over and over or are you ready to take back control of your life by controlling how you feel and how you choose to let things affect you?
I would much rather start off my weekend on a positive note…especially since when I am down it’s funny how it seems to affect all my boys. They know that there is something going on with me and it makes them feel bad…which just proves that even if we think we are only affecting ourselves, our attitude and disposition affects others.
Remember…a negative mind will never give you a positive life!
