Hi ladies,
I was going through my stash which I like to do from time to time as it is the best meditation I do in my life – looking at my makeup and feeling overwhelmed! And I found two of my favorite and most used lip lines with bright lipsticks like red and fuschia. These are Revlon lip liners in Red and Fushia. These are super affordable long wear liners and such accurate shades that go with most reds and bright pinks. I will be reviewing Red lipliner here. So let’s get on with the review.
Price: Rs.630
Product Description:
Revlon® ColorStay™ Lipliner provides longwearing definition, helps lip color last longer, and prevents feathering and bleeding.
My Experience with Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red:
The basic idea behind looking for a liner came when I bought Ruby Woo and I wanted a lip liner so that it remains sharp on the edges and does not get smudged from the corners after some hours of application. Honestly, I did not want to spend too much or equivalent to a lipstick on a lipliner, so I was on a lookout for an affordable exact or almost matching liner. And I came across Revlon Red.
Being a drugstore brand, I do not expect the packaging to be luxurious or something. These lippies come attached to a cardboard box with a plastic case. Nothing elaborative! The pencil is a twist-on liner and very slim that it feels fragile in hand. I will not travel with these unless I put them in a box. They are fragile and susceptible to breakage.
Let me be honest here (as always), it is not one of the creamiest formulae out there. This is a hard stick. Not very hard but not creamiest either. It spreads evenly on lips and gives a smooth texture to work with for the bullet. Also, it intensifies the color, although Ruby Woo does not need that.
When applying a red lipstick, I do not really want to play with the color tone even a bit, because the reason I have bought it is the exact shade I loved. So I apply using a bullet directly and then shape my lips using the liner. This gives a sharp look to the application and Revlon Red being so close to the shade of Ruby Woo, does not give two shades to lips either.
The material is easy to work with and does not break on a slight amount of pressure. I have had many accidents where twist-on liners break just by getting in contact with lips. If you see, it is an above average liner which clings to dry patches and is drying but it so closely matches my Red which is the biggest point. It even matches brilliantly with Colorbar Hot-e. I have swatched them side by side for a better perspective.
It is a deep red shade; not orangy red or blood red, a deep red to match Ruby Woo, Russian Red, Hot E, etc.
Pros of Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red:
• Exact shade matching my lipstick and almost all deep reds
• Not very soft; it breaks easily
• Affordable
• Twist-on, so no sharpening hassle
• Comes with a sharpener
Cons of Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red:
• Delicate
IMBB Rating:
4/5
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Revlon ColorStay Lipliner Red?
I am all in for trying more shades here. I do not wear lip liners only on lips, so it being drying isn’t a problem for me.
