Hi all,
My craziness for eyeshadow palettes is increasing with each passing day, and in particular shimmer and metallic palettes. I was casually browsing online with no intention to buy whatsoever as I have lot of stuff coming from Houston already, and then I saw NYX Cosmic Metals Eye shadow palette. I do not own much NYX products and no shadow palettes for sure, and this one tempted me a lot. Firstly because it was more than a quad and secondly all shades were metallic and so wearable. Buying online without swatching is always a risk, but not of all of us stay in metro cities, so I had to make the splurge.

My Experience with NYX Cosmic Metals Shadow CMSP01 Palette:
First things first, the packaging. There is no cardboard box or any cover here. This palette comes packed in a plastic sheet. This kind of packaging does not make me happy at all. There needs to be an outer cover to make it look classy. There are almost an inch sized 6 pans with different metallic shades.
The palette is made of good quality plastic and thicker than usual. The lid is transparent, so all shades are clearly visible from outside. On the flip side, this leaves the possibility of having a mirror inside. The height of the palette is more than the general height of palettes (I have taken a side shot to show the same).
Texture wise, all shades are very finely milled. There is immense amount of glitter here which makes it metallic looking, but the glitter is not chunky. It is smooth to apply and work with. These shadows need a primer for sure as the staying power is really bad. All the shades are muted here and nothing is popping because of which this palette will be liked by many as not everyone is comfortable using bright colors on their faces. The fall out is minimal and there is no bothersome smell.
Let’s get into the shades one by one:
1. This is a taupe rose gold shade with tons of shimmer. This was not very pigmented to start the palette with. Perfect for brow bone highlighting.
2. Amazing brown-golden shade, use it all over the eye, or shade the outer corner. Either ways, it’s just too good and pigmented really well.
3. A metallic with lavender taupe undertones. Could it get more complex.. ?? But the shade is beautiful, pigmented and tricky to use as you may end up looking a corpse of applied on full eye.
4. Another insanely pigmented light peach color, an evening party color for sure.
5. The eggplant shade and darkest in the palette, it’s super pigmented.
6. The last one is a bit of a disappointment. It is very light golden and least pigmented of all.
Summing up, I am happy to pick this palette and these shades are so versatile that they will be used very regularly. Also while travelling and can pick this palette for my metallic need.
