1. The classic vinaigrette
Let’s start off with something really simple and a receipted that will provide you with the base for many different types of salad dressing. This is a virtually zero calorie dressing that will add flavour to even the most basic of salads and it only takes minutes to prepare. Just mix the main ingredients and then add the olive oil slowly as you whisk up the vinaigrette.
Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
- 1/3 cup of extra virgin olive oil
- Pepper and salt to taste
2. Quick and easy creamy salad dressing
When ranch dressing gets a little too much, try this basic, quick and simple, creamy salad dressing to add something more to a green leaf salad. It’s doesn’t contain all the herbs and spices that a classic ranch dressing would, so it doesn’t overpower the salad at all. Whisk the mayonnaise and the other ingredients together first and then whisk in the vinegar.
Ingredients:
- 1 teaspoon grainy mustard
- 1 tablespoon champagne vinegar
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- A pinch of sugar
- Pepper and salt to taste
3. Roasted garlic vinaigrette
For all you garlic lovers out there, here’s a great way to add a lovely deep garlic flavour to any salad. Just wrap one small piece of garlic in foil, drizzled with olive oil, and roast it in the oven at 400 degrees F for about 30 minutes. When the garlic has cooled, squeeze out the cloves and then blend them in a blender with our classic vinaigrette.

- 1 peeled and chopped ripe mango
- Juice and zest of 1 lime

- ¼ cup rice vinegar
- ½ cup vegetable oil
5. Parsley salad dressing

- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ½ teaspoon dried dill
