I recently bought a few lip liners from Essence. I will be reviewing them all in coming days. The products offered by Essence are very affordable, so you can go crazy and shop a lot and get creative with new things. Today’s review is all about Essence Soft Contouring Lipliner 11 Sucker for Grey.

Product Description:
Soft contouring lipliner. the highly pigmented, silky lipliner with velvety-matt results are ideal for contouring the lips.

Ingredients:
Hydrogenated vegetable oil, hydrogenated castor oil, synthetic fluorphlogopite, paraffin, tocopherol, talc, sorbitan tristearate, polyethylene, citric acid, ci 45410 (red 28), ci 77491 (iron oxides), ci 77492 (iron oxides), ci 77499 (iron oxides), ci 77891 (titanium dioxide).

My Experience with Essence Soft Contouring Lipliner 11 Sucker for Grey:

The lip liner comes in a pencil form with a wooden casing. It has a matching plastic cap to go with it. The pencil is color-coded and the shade name of the pencil/liner is mentioned on the pencil.

The cap does not fit tightly. It’s loose and falls off. I thought it might be just one of them but later I realized that it was the case with all of them. This makes it totally not travel-friendly.

The color looks dark grey and I was expecting it to look slightly pleasant on the lips, especially with darker lipsticks. But in reality, it does not look flattering on the lips. It turned out to be a mix of grey and purple on the lips.

This is not a wearable color for any skin tone until and unless it’s used in some creative or Halloween makeup looks. Since it’s a wooden pencil and not retractable, there is wastage of the product each time you sharpen it.

The texture of the lip pencil is not great at all. It has a dry texture and it’s difficult to work with it. One needs to rub in the product for the colour to be visible, which involves a lot of tugging. Since it’s so dry it does not allow the lipstick to bleed.

If you have pigmented lips the color won’t even be visible on your lips. The color is the worst part of the product. It’s extremely difficult to work with. Overall, I would say you can simply skip the product. You will not miss a thing.
