Greetings everyone,
I experience dry lips in winter and this is quite common with all of us. To keep lips moisturized and hydrated, I always keep a lip balm handy. However, I pamper my lips with a lip mask twice or thrice a week. Lip masks are super easy to make and effective at the same time. In this post, I am sharing the recipe of a rose and cinnamon lip mask. Cinnamon is quite effective in making lips soft and plump and rose adds a pinkish tint to the lips. Let’s get into the details to know more about this lip mask.
Ingredients and their benefits:
I have used three easily available ingredients to make this lip mask. Following are the ingredients and their benefits.
Rose petals
Rose petals provide a nice pink hue to the lips. They make your lips softer and smoother. Moreover, rose provides the lips with a nice cooling sensation and soothes them. To treat pigmented lips, you can apply a homemade paste of rose petals regularly.
Cinnamon powder
Well, we all know that cinnamon works wonderfully when it comes to lip plumping. The nutrients present in cinnamon help in healing dry lips while making them soft and plump. A thing to remember: never apply cinnamon powder directly on dry lips. It can be abrasive and damage your lips.
Milk powder
Nothing can nourish and moisturize your skin and lips like milk. Milk powder has a high concentration of lactic acid that exfoliates the lips, making them smoother. The nutrients present in milk powder effectively hydrate your lips and keep them moisturized. Moreover, milk powder also treats pigmented lips.
Honey (optional)
I didn’t use honey in this lip mask as I don’t have extremely dry lips. However, if you have extremely dry and chapped lips, honey will intensely moisturize them. Honey also treats lip pigmentation while making it softer and smoother.
How to make:
Step 1:
Take a handful of rose petals and wash them thoroughly to remove impurities. After rinsing, soak them in water for 15-20 minutes.
Step 2:
Later, with the help of a mortar, grind the rose petals to make a paste.
Step 3:
Add a teaspoon full of milk powder to it.
Step 4:
Add a dash of cinnamon powder and mix it well.
How to apply:
Step 1:
Cleanse your lips properly to remove any layer of lip products.
Step 2:
Apply rose and cinnamon lip mask evenly on your lips and leave it on for 15-20 minutes.
Step 3:
Later, massage your lips for 1-2 minutes and rinse off the mask with normal water.
Step 4:
Follow up with a lip balm for extra moisturisation and to prevent moisture loss.
Benefits:
You will experience softer and plumper lips within a single use of this lip mask. The ingredients present in the lip mask are quite effective in providing adequate nourishment and moisturisation to the lips. Moreover, cinnamon increases blood circulation, making the lip plumper, softer and fuller.
You can definitely try this lip mask before applying a lipstick with drying formula. It will be helpful in keeping your lips hydrated and moisturized for a long time. With regular usage of this rose and cinnamon lip mask, your lips will develop a pinkish tint. It will effectively treat lip pigmentation too.
Caution:
Cinnamon powder can make your lips tingle a little bit. However, if you experience a burning sensation, discontinue the usage; your lips might be too sensitive for cinnamon. Alternatively, you can reduce the amount of cinnamon powder. Do not use this lip mask more than twice a week as cinnamon powder can be abrasive for the lips and damage them.
