Hi all,
Today, I’ll be reviewing a lipstick from Bobbi Brown new range – Crushed Lip Color. I was waiting for the launch of these in India since the beginning of the time 🙂 . This is a new range of almost 20 colors. So many bloggers are talking about them and I couldn’t keep my hands off them. I picked up two of them, Bare and Bitten. Both looked very wearable colors; close to nudes as I wanted something for daily wear and not once in a blue moon. My basic idea is if I am spending so much, I should rather be able to use that product daily. Let’s see how Bare turned out for me.
Price: Rs.1700 for 3.4g
Product Description:
The look of a lipstick meets the feel of a balm for our most wearable lip yet. Loaded with crushed pigments and lip-loving ingredients, it’s the ultimate swipe and go formula.

My Experience with Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Bare:
The packaging is classic black. I love the fact that Bobbi Brown make lipsticks which are heavy. I do not like lightweight products. That’s a personal liking anyway. It comes in a black cardboard box with ingredients and shade written on top. The lipstick tube is again black and unlike usual, this time they have a color-coded band to recognize from outside. Once you open the cap, the inside of the lipstick matches the shade you have picked and that is a delight to see. The black part is matte and color-coded part is glossy. It’s a regular twist on bullet lipstick.
The texture is balmy; well the product also says so. It’s a balm with high pigmentation. If I am asked to put across the simplest description about this lipstick, then that would be it – a pigmented balm. To get the desired color intensity you need to smear the lipstick quite generously on your lips. As for my lips swatch, this is the result of multiple swipes. It has a characteristic old school lipstick smell; I guess all Bobbi Brown lipsticks smell the same.
It has a smooth texture which glides effortlessly on the lips and there is no tugging or pulling. Since it’s a balm, it is definitely moisturizing but not long-lasting. It transfers easily and goes off eventually after a light smack or a heavy meal, leaving the lips moisturized. This has a heavy feel to it; when you apply, you do feel the product on your lips and when it wears off, it wears off uniformly and does not cling to dry patches. If you see, it has all the qualities of a lip balm and less of lipstick. There is no staining at all, at least with this color for sure.
The shade ‘Bare’ is a daily wear color; perfect for just a gloss kind of look but less heavy than gloss. To give you more perspective of the shade, I picked up similar tones from my stash and swatched the similar one – MAC Smoked Almond Liptensity Lipstick, Too Faced Sell Out Melted Matte Liquified Long Wear Matte Lipstick and Bobbi Brown Bare. It’s lightest of the shades among the three and more with brown undertones. ‘Bare’ is less creamy than Liptensity and heavier than Sell Out.
Pros of Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Bare:
• Great shade for everyday wear
• Moisturizing
• Lip balm with some color intensity
• Lighter than actual balms and glosses
• Rich in Vitamins E and C and beeswax
• No tugging, pulling; glides easily
• Beautiful color-coded bullet
Cons of Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Bare:
• Expensive
IMBB Rating:
4/5
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Color Bare?
This is a high-end brand and of good quality. There is nothing outstanding about the product everything seems normal and perfect. If you are looking for a similar shade and have the price point to afford, this is a keeper.
