5 AMAZING HOMEMADE BATH BOMB RECIPES
5 Homemade bath bomb recipe
Who doesn’t like to take a relaxing bath every now and again? Sure, showers get you clean, but they don’t let you unwind like a good, long soak can. And what makes a dip in the tub even better? A bath bomb! But why go out and buy some pre-made, expensive bath bombs when you can just make some yourself at home? Let’s take a look at some wonderful homemade bath bomb recipes.
Dreamy Lavender Bath Bombs
Lavender has long been used to help relax both children and adults. It helps to put you in a calm state, and makes it easier to fall asleep. These properties make it the perfect ingredient for a before-bed bath bomb! Best of all, the ingredients needed are simple. Start off with 8 ounces of baking soda, 4 ounces cream of tartar, 4 ounces of corn starch, 4 ounce of Epsom salts, 3 teaspoons of filtered water, 20 drops of lavender essential oil, 3 teaspoons of coconut oil, and, optionally, food coloring, dried lavender flowers, glitter, and other decoration. Combine all dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Next, in another bowl, combine the “wet” ingredients: water, oil, and food coloring. Combine the two bowls until it is the consistency of wet sand. Next, put in your mold (or a muffin tin). Let dry for 24 hours, and you’re done! Sweet dreams!
Citric Acid Bath Bombs
Don’t let the name fool you: just because it sounds like something concocted in a science lab, that doesn’t mean that it isn’t easy to make at home! Citric acid, in this case, means that the bath bombs are even more natural than some of the others on this list, so fans of all-natural products should give it a try! Start off with these basic ingredients: 1 cup cornstarch, 1 cup baking soda, ¼ cup Epsom salt, 1 cup citric acid, 10 drops lemon essential oil, 10 drops orange essential oil, and, optionally, yellow and red food coloring. You will also need some water in a spray bottle, and perhaps a bath bomb mold. The first step is simple: combine all of your dry ingredients into a bowl and mix. Next, add the essential oils and food coloring, if it’s being used, to your dry mix and stir. Spritz with spray bottle of water until it’s moist, holding together like wet sand. Press into molds, and let sit for twenty-four hours.
Peppermint Bath Bombs
Peppermint is one of the most favored essential oils, and for a very good reason: not only does it smell delicious, but it helps to relax and unwind after a stressful day! It’s perfectly suited to making bath bombs for this reason alone. Bonus: it makes a great Christmas stocking stuffer! To begin, start with ½ cup of baking soda, ½ cup citric acid, ¼ cup cornstarch, ¼ cup coconut oil, 5 drops peppermint essential oil, 5 drops red food coloring and, optionally, glitter. In a mixing bowl, combine all of the dry ingredients, then mix very well. Then, you’ll want to separate your mixture into two bowls. Put the food coloring into one of the bowls, and mix well with your fingers. Mix the glitter in, as well, if you’re using it. Add two drops of peppermint oil to each bowl, then mix. Heat the coconut oil in the microwave for no more than 20 seconds, and add it 1/8 of a cup at a time. Once the mixture sticks together, pack into your mold or a muffin tin. Let sit for about 12 hours.
Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh Bath Bombs
This is another fabulous homemade bath bomb recipe that is great for the Christmas season! Most of the people know the story of the Three Wise Men from the Bible. Now you can honor that story in the gifts you give out…or even what you keep for yourself! This Gold, Frankincense and Myrrh bath bomb is a treat for your senses, and a great gift, too. To start, you’ll need 1 cup baking soda, 2/3 cup Epsom salt, ½ teaspoon gold mica, 20 drops frankincense essential oil, 10 drops myrrh essential oil, 1 tablespoon of coconut oil, ½ citric acid, and a spray bottle of water. Begin by blending the baking soda, Epsom salts, gold mica, frankincense essential oil, myrrh essential oil, and coconut oil together in a food processor. Next, transfer to a large mixing bowl. Add the citric acid in, stirring until evenly blended. Then, spray with water until just holding together. Place in the mold of your choice, then let it set overnight.
Hot Chocolate Bath Bombs
Hot cocoa isn’t just for sipping anymore! Now you can breathe that rich, chocolaty decadence into the bath, as well. This bath bomb smells delicious, and looks that way, too. Fun gift idea: package with the peppermint bath bombs (above) for a delicious, holiday-goody-inspired gift that anyone will be happy to receive. Before you start, you’ll need these ingredients on hand: ½ cup of citric acid, 1/2 cup of baking soda, 1 tablespoon Kaolin white clay, 3 teaspoons organic cacao powder (or ordinary cocoa powder), witch hazel in a spritz bottle, ¼ ounce of cacao essential oil or chocolate fragrance oil. To begin making the fizzies, sift all of the dry ingredients into a mixing bowl. Mix thoroughly. Next, you’ll need to add the essential oil (or fragrance oil) until it is evenly dispersed. Spritz the mixture with the witch hazel until it takes on the consistency of wet sand, holding its shape. Shape with your favorite mold, then place onto a bath towel that has been covered with cellophane. Let dry for 24 hours. Be warned: it smells good enough to drink, but don’t break out the marshmallows just yet! It is recommended to follow up a soak with a mug of delicious hot chocolate, though. For the “full experience!”
Bath bombs can be a great gift, or just a great way to relax after a long day. Whatever your case is, you’ll love making these simple, do-it-yourself bath bombs again and again!
