Hi girls,
I have multiple kits and palettes for contouring and highlighting purpose, so I have quite some information on what warm skin tones really need. My skin tone is fair but has some pinkness to it. I try to use a yellow foundation so that I can neutralize the broken capillaries. Also, I use a banana powder which is a good product to neutralize skin tone or make it more yellow toned. On top of that, I use a contour product. So basically, this kit is ideal for medium skin tones (which covers most of us warm skinned girls). This kit from Australis was certainly something that I had not expected. Read on for more details:

My Experience with Australis AC On Tour Powder Contouring and Highlighting Palette:
This kit has no shiny bright white-toned highlight. This really put me off. The highlight it comes with has a golden bronze tone which adds some color and darkness to my skin. I tried to highlight the centre of my nose and the high cheekbones, but they ended up looking like brown spots. The only shade that is shiny is this highlight number one, but it has disappointed me. I could use it like a shadow for sure to be honest, but as a highlight – it would work only on very dark skin perhaps.
The second highlight shade is an orange-toned powder. It is matte and has some yellow orange tones which again are not ideal for me to contour. The third powder is very similar to the second one, not ideal again to highlight since it adds a lot of color to my skin. I could use it as a banana powder, but it does not match my complexion and ends up looking too orangey on me.
Coming to the contour shades, this is the first time I am trying an orange shade for contour. The first contour shade is orange, which could be used on top of a yellow-toned foundation. Only warm skin could carry it off ; if you have a yellow skin tone, you could use it too. Otherwise, this could be a disaster for any other skin tone. I use it very lightly on the jawline and under the cheekbones, and works for me when I use an orange-toned blush. The other two contour powders are nice to match my skin tone. They work fine but are quite dark and pigmented, so I take caution not too use it too much.
The powders are extremely soft and do not feel chalky at all. The pigmentation is great too. The colors can all be used for a neutral matte eye makeup too. These are ideal for crease and lid, but the colors are very orange and even medium skin tones can not use it to the best of my knowledge. I think this can work for very deep skin tones only. On foundation it lasts 4 plus hours and it blends very well too. The powders are good quality but the colors are not meant for me at all.
Pros of Australis AC On Tour Powder Contouring and Highlighting Palette:
- Soft, smooth powders.
- Not too stark, orange-toned contours are good to begin with.
- Can be used as an eyeshadow palette too.
- No chalkiness to the powders.
- Huge mirror, nice packaging overall.
- All matte, well pigmented contour shades.
- Blends well.
- Lasts fairly well.
Cons of Australis AC On Tour Powder Contouring and Highlighting Palette:
- Expensive.
- Too orange for warm skin, it should have said dark skin on the palette.
- Highlight is too bronze-y gold for me, does not work for me.
- Most colors have so much orange to them, most of us will have to think twice before using it.
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Australis AC On Tour Powder Contouring and Highlighting Palette?
For the quality, powders and kit I would love to, but the colors are a total mismatch – all of them are too colored or orange even for warm skin. Only very dark skin can use this effectively.
