10 RULES SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE LIVE BY
10 Rules Successful People Live By
They say that what separates a successful person from an unsuccessful one is that the former took action while the latter didn’t. But as Beauty and Tips finds out in this article, there are also 10 golden rules successful people live by.
If you want to get somewhere in life – in other words, if you want to be successful – it doesn’t matter what your circumstances are. It doesn’t matter where you were born, how much money your parents had, or even what education you had. What matters is that you learn what it takes to rise to the top.
The great thing about life is that anyone can be successful. You just have to know what it takes to get to the top. And because people have already been there and won – and still are winning – all you really need to do is follow what they did.
Sound simple? There is more to it. But if you can follow the rules all successful people live by, you’re already giving yourself a head start on the road to success.
Let’s take a look!
Wake Up Early
We’re not saying that you need to be a morning person (there really is no need to be a morning person). But waking up early gives successful people an edge. While their competitors are still snoozing or trying to shake off hangovers, successful people are hustling. They’re making things happen, whether that involves firing off emails, going to meetings, eating a healthy breakfast, working out, or creating content.
When you rise with the sun, you have the whole day ahead of you. You also have a psychological edge, as it’s a great feeling to know you got up early and are ready to seize the day.
Oh, and all those chores you’ve got for today? It suddenly becomes a whole lot easier to complete them all.
Be Persistent
Look, there will be knock backs. Sometimes, things won’t go wrong. Sometimes, it will seem as though the whole world is against you and that fate just isn’t on your side.
Successful people know the feeling all too well. But they rode it out. And they will keep riding it out. Because they know that persistence pays off.
Simplify Your Surroundings
Cluttered surroundings can easily lead to a cluttered mind. And a cluttered mind can thwart your chances of success.
Our surroundings often reflect our mindset. Take a look at yours. Do your surroundings make you puff your cheeks out in sheer exhaustion and futility? Or do they make you smile?
Gaining some clarity and getting organised is the easiest way to start off on your road to success. Refreshed surroundings will refresh your mind so that you’re ready to work on your projects with the peace of mind that you know where everything is.
Focus On Your Strengths
Too often, unsuccessful people dwell on what they can’t do, as opposed to what they can do.
Not so successful people, who always focus on their strengths.
Cut Down On Your Vices
If you ask a successful person and an unsuccessful person what they did this weekend, their answers will be very different. Wheres the successful person might tell you they worked on their business all weekend and hustled, the unsuccessful person will probably tell you that they had a few drinks and then binged on House of Cards.
And there is the big difference. Successful people are so laser-focused on what they need to do that they cut back massively on their “vices”. They don’t spend their days binge watching box sets.
They don’t party every Friday night because “the weekend in here.”
They do things in moderation and focus on what needs to be done to get them closer to where they want to be.
Failure Is An Option
Lots of people give up way too early because they suffered one or two setbacks. All of a sudden, that one failure was enough to convince them that they weren’t good enough and that they should quit right now.
Imagine if we all quit after a setback?!
Successful people aren’t immune from failure. They’re human beings who fail just as much as you or I! But their awesome rule – that they won’t let failure bother them – is essential.
Successful people are well aware that there will be failures. But they use these failures as teachers that show them the proper way to do something.
Be Positive
It’s very hard to achieve success if you’re a negative person. In fact, it’s nigh on impossible.
Successful people aren’t deluded dreamers. They’re realistic optimists who have total belief in themselves and what they are trying to achieve.
Work Harder Than Everyone Else
A lot of successful people – especially those in the world of business – will readily admit that they’re not super talented.
In fact, some might even go as far as to say that they have no talents at all.
But what they will say is that they made darn sure that they outworked everyone else.
Successful people love the grind. They know that in order to be a success in life, they have to work harder than their peers.
Make Quick Decisions
You know what happens when you sit on a decision too long? Everyone else moves on and you get left behind. If you sit on a decision even longer, that decision eventually gets made for you.
Successful people know two things:
1) Time is sparse
2) They have to trust their gut instincts
Successful people make snap decisions and then accept whatever consequences come their way. They don’t wait. They don’t hang around. They make the calls and move forward.
Reach Out For Help
You can’t name a single successful person who did it all by themselves. There aren’t any! Even though successful people take all the glory, they each have a support network that has offered them help along the way.
Successful people are self aware enough to know that they can’t do it all themselves. They’re never too proud to ask for help. They know that others have skills they don’t have, and which could really benefit them.
Stay happy!
