My Experience with Essence Lipstick I’m a Lobstar?
The packaging of the lipstick is average. It is a normal plastic tube. The body is color-coded and hence it is easy to spot in makeup stash. The shade name is written on a sticker at the base. The lipstick has a regular twist-up mechanism. The lipstick cap shuts tightly making it fit for travel purposes. Overall, the packaging is quite flimsy and looks very cheap.
“I’m a Lobster” is a light orange shade. I expected this shade to be a bright orange color but it turned out to be a sheer lip color. The lipstick is loaded with golden glitter which adds a nice luminosity to the lipstick. Though the shimmers are quite large but they are so sparse that they do not give a chunky appearance to the lipstick. It has a subtle glossy finish. This shade is pretty wearable and looks nice on the lips. It is a good choice for those who like glossy lip color or even lip glosses.
The lipstick loses its glossy sheen after some time and sets to a light crème finish. Since it is a sheer lipstick, it is low in terms of pigmentation. It gives very sheer color to the lips and does not hide the pigmentation of the lips. So, you can really not expect high opaque coverage from this one. I have mildly pigmented lips and this lipstick does not hide the pigmentation properly.
The texture of the lipstick is super smooth and creamy. It glides effortlessly on the lips, like a dream. It does not cause any tug or pull on the lips. The formula is kind of too creamy that it tends to slide on the lips. The creaminess of the lipstick made it transfer so easily and it also smudges from the corners of the lips. The formula is creamy but not at all moisturizing. My lips get dry and flaky after wearing this lip color for a while. It clings on to the dry patches of the lips and highlights them too much. So, it is mandatory to prep the lips properly. It looks more like a tinted lip balm.
The lasting power is average. It hardly stays for 3 hours on my lips and wipes off very easily after meals. It is so drying that my lips get dry at the end of the day.
