Los Angeles Sri Lankan Wedding by George Street Photo & Video
We are thrilled to feature a resplendent Sri Lankan wedding today! Sobashi and Indy’s wedding took place at the Kyoto Japanese Garden, located on the rooftop of the DoubleTree by Hilton Los Angeles Downtown. We were thrilled by the fashion and traditions found in this colorful celebration! Maharani Sobashi’s cream bridal look was perfection, in a Kandyan sari with a glittering trim and glowing hair and makeup by Angievacamakeup. The intricately embroidered silk dress featured a peplum ruffle with a heavily layered necklace that fell past her waist. While Sobashi looked absolutely breathtaking, Indy’s outfit was very special as well. To provide a little background for you Maharanis, the classic Sri Lankan Kanyadan groom’s outfit includes a jacket, mul anduma, and hat. The jacket is decorated with sequins and embellishments and features stiff shoulders and puffy sleeves. The back of the jacket usually displays a large embroidered symbol, such as the Sri Lankan flag or a peacock. The mul anduma is a long white cloth with frills that is tied and draped over the groom’s waist. It can take over an hour to drape the mul anduma, so wearing this outfit is definitely meant to commemorate an extra special occasion! The look is capped off with a plush, four cornered headdress. Altogether, Indy looked dashing in his Kanyadan costume and we are so impressed with the craftsmanship and artistry of both Sobashi and Indy’s bridal fashions! The decor by Commerce Flowers and coordination by At Your Door Events was fabulous as well. As guests found their seats, Sri Lankan dancers announced the arrival of Sobashi and Indy.
