My Experience with theBalm Doting Meet Matt(e) Hughes Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick:
Let’s start with the packaging of the product. The liquid lipstick comes in a cream cardboard carton bearing funky prints and fonts on it. The patterns are quite fun and looks nice. The same patterns are also printed on the liquid lipstick tube. The lipstick tube comes in a simple cylindrical shape and a see-through packaging, which helps to spot the shade easily. The shade name is mentioned at the base of the tube and also on the outer carton. The tube closes securely with a regular screw on cap, which fits securely making it leak proof and travel friendly. The tube is sleek and fits in my clutch easily. The shape of the lipstick is fairly simple and helps to easily store it. The applicator is attached with the cap. The applicator wand is large enough and apt for proper application. The applicator is a regular, soft, foamy and doe foot type. The slant tip applicator makes the lipstick glides smoothly on the lips giving a perfect pout. Overall, the packaging is fun and travel friendly.
N*de coral lipstick shades have always been my favorite. ‘Doting” is a beautiful everyday shade. This is a gorgeous n*de coral kind of a shade, which flatters my skin tone really well. The shade is apt for fairer skin tones. I really love the colour on my lips; it looks amazing in daytime. The shade is subtle and suitable for those who do not prefer using bold shades. The finish is super matte and looks classy.
It looks velvety once it dries out completely. There is no significant sheen or shimmer in this lipstick. It has a mild vanilla fragrance with some minty essence, which is pleasing and not bothersome. Also, there’s a nice and cooling sensation that you feel when you apply this one. The color payoff of this shade is nice but it needs to be layered for a perfect opaque finish. It hides the pigmentation of my lips in two-three swipes.
The texture is nice and mousse like. Hence, it glides smoothly on the lips without any drag. It never settles into the fine lines of the lips and does not crumble at all. This particular shade goes on a bit streaky, so it requires a little effort and patience to get a perfect and even finish. This lipstick is absolutely waterproof and smudge-proof. It is perfectly transfer proof and does not budge even after a full meal. The formula is lightweight and feels super comfortable on the lips. It does not dry out the lips. The lipstick may highlight the dry patches of the lips, so it is mandatory to keep the lips properly exfoliated and moisturized, but this is really not a con of this lipstick. Prepping the lips well is mandatory for every matte lipstick. The lipstick dries out in some 40-50 seconds. It feels slightly sticky initially but once it dries out completely, it feels like nothing is there on my lips.
The lasting power is slightly lower than the bold shades; it lasted on my lips for around 6 hours. It survives meals nicely and does not smear at all. Removing the lipstick is slightly difficult, as you will need a very good makeup remover to remover it perfectly.
