Skin type: Normal to oily, sensitive and acne-prone
Greetings everyone,
Today’s review is all about a clay mask from Innisfree that I purchased a couple of weeks ago. This face mask is formulated especially for combination and oily skin while the other variants are meant for dry and normal skin. I wanted this clay mousse mask since a very long time, but according to my mother’s instruction, I had to finish the dozens of other clay masks that were in my stash. Although I’m more of a DIY kind of person, still, I store face masks for the lazy days. It took me a long time, but I finally bought it. Innisfree super volcanic clay mousse mask is an improved formulation of its original counterpart Innisfree super volcanic clay mask that is a winner of 22 global beauty awards. I have used both but liked the performance of the mousse mask more. Let’s see how it fared me.
Price: INR 1,450

My Experience with Innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask:
Packaging: Innisfree super volcanic clay mousse mask comes housed in a brown coloured metal can with a pump dispenser. The probability of the can getting dented is on the higher side because the metal sheet is not that strong, and mine already got slightly dented, probably during shipping. All the product-related information are mentioned over the can neatly. The can itself comes housed in an outer cardboard box in the shades of brown that bears all the information as well.
The nozzle comes with a small button cap, which prevents any spillage or drying up of the mask. However, the inside of nozzle remains dirty because of the mask, but you can clean up its surroundings and button cap. I press the pump with a lighter hand to avoid any wastage. I can control the dispensing of the product, still, there is a slight wastage. Overall, the packaging is good.
Texture and fragrance: Innisfree super volcanic clay mousse mask is grey in colour and has the texture of a mousse; very soft, silky and smooth, but not that much fluffy. It spreads over the skin like butter, giving me a luxe feeling. Ah! Coming to the fragrance, this is the only product in my stash that smells so unpleasant.
The fragrance irks me a lot, and it will be bothersome to those who have a sensitive nose, like me. I can only smell it while applying the product, and when I start applying this clay mask over the face, it strongly smells of alcohol and has other unpleasant smells as well. Yes, I wasn’t aware of the alcohol presence in it. The effects of polyvinyl alcohol are balanced by other skin-repairing ingredients in the mousse mask. However, after application, the smell starts fading away, and later, a hint of sweet fragrance remains. Initially, the fragrance gives me a headache after which it provides a refreshed feeling.
Results: I use this clay mousse mask twice a week in which once I follow it up with a sheet mask. The quantity needed is very less, even less than a coin size. After spreading the mask over my cleansed skin, I wait for 15 minutes. It does not tighten up or irritate my skin, which is good. After 15 minutes, I rinse off the face mask with normal water.
I have tried rinsing off the mask with lukewarm as well as normal water but, there is no pretty much difference except that lukewarm water makes the rinsing process easier. Post washing, the face mask makes my skin super soft, smooth and clean but, it makes my face dull. It efficiently unclogs and shrinks the pores. During or post usage of the mask, it doesn’t dry the skin or irritate it. When it comes to the usage of the product and storage of the bottle, there is a huge list of precautions that has been mentioned on the Innisfree website very clearly.
Overall, unlike its original counterpart clay mask, Innisfree super volcanic clay mousse mask has a super soft texture and is quite convenient to use. It delivers the expected results as well. However, to me, the fragrance and the presence of alcohol is bothering.

IMBB Rating: 4/5
Will I Recommend/Repurchase Innisfree super volcanic clay mousse mask?
I will surely recommend this if you like using clay masks. It is super lightweight and does not dry out the skin. However, I am not sure about repurchasing as the fragrance of this mousse mask bothers my sensitive nose, and it will take a long time to finish this can only.
