HOW TO TRANSFORM STRESS INTO SUCCESS?
How To Transform Stress Into Success?
Stress is bad, right? But what if we told you that you can use stress to your advantage? In this article we’re going to take a look at how you can turn your fortunes around by transforming stress into success.
Stress and success are two big words capable of making us feel powerful emotions. The word stress can easily revile us, as it reminds us of the times when we’ve felt overwhelmed by life. Success, on the other hand, is a much happier word! It’s a buoyant, feel-good word we want to hear more of!
Two words that are capable of making us feel so differently. So how on earth do we transform one into the other? Is it possible to transform feeling overwhelmed by life into feeling great joy? Totally! Let’s take a look at how you can do just this without resorting to magic.
Stop Wasting Time On Things You Can’t Change
The first thing you should do is admit to yourself that there are things you can’t change, and never will be able to change. The past is the past. It’s over, and there’s nothing you can do about it. All you can do from no onwards is influence your future.
Understanding and accepting this is key, because a lot of our stress comes after we’ve ben heavily focused on things we can’t change.
“What if things had been different between us two?”
“What if I had got that job?”
“What if I had never offended him like that? Gosh, I’m so stupid!”
There are also people and situations that we can’t change. And when you keep insisting that you can change these people and situations, stress easily sets in.
Focus only on the things you can influence. Forget the rest. They aren’t the things that will make you successful. They’re the things that will hold you back.
Write Down A Plan Of Action
Life will continue to feel really stressful if you can’t see a way out of your current situation. It’s only once you start planning your future that you start to feel a lot calmer. All of a sudden, you’ve got an exit route from stress to success.
Put some time aside to write down your goals. Set specific goals, set deadlines, and then map out how you’re going to achieve these goals.
Picture what life will look like if you achieve your goals. Imagine how you’ll feel.
Ask For Help
Some of us are really bad at asking for help. There can be many reasons for this, and you’d have to look within yourself to find out why you find it hard to reach out to other (if indeed you do find it hard).
It’s the same when it comes to asking for money. A lot of the time, it’s pride that prevents us from asking for help. We don’t want to look needy or vulnerable to others. We want to look strong, brave, and we want to look like we know what we’re doing.
But asking for help doesn’t make you look weak. On the contrary, it emboldens you. It takes great strength to ask someone for help.
It’s also super sensible.
Look, you can’t do everything yourself. It’s impossible. Trying to do it all by yourself is what causes stress for most of us.
Successful business owners know this all too well. Ask any successful business owners what the first few months of launching their business was like, and they’ll probably tell you that it was as stressful as anything. Why? Very possibly because they tried to do everything themselves.
The road to success is very rarely a solitary one. You need helping hands. And guess what? Believe it or not, but people actually want to help you. Who wouldn’t want to be a part of someone’s success story? Don’t be scared of reaching out to people. Their positive responses will amaze you.
Change Your Habits
A lot of the time, transforming stress into success is as simple as tweaking a few habits. For example, you could begin by waking up earlier.
Sleeping in feels great at the time. 9am swings around, and we’re still making star shapes under the sheets.
But it doesn’t feel so great at 10am when we realise how far behind we are with everything.
Those who succeed tend to wake up early. They get up at 6am and get on top of their tasks before their tasks get on top of them.
You might also want to cut down on alcohol, or even cut it out altogether. Alcohol can help us calm down after a stressful day, but this isn’t a case of transforming stress into success – it’s simply a case of giving stress a break momentarily, giving it a breather to to speak. It will return. Instead of drinking alcohol, drink more water instead. Water replenishes your mind and body, and can help you to de-stress in ways alcohol can’t.
Other changes you could make include watching educational videos online instead of cat videos, spending less time on social media, and going to bed earlier.
Talk To Someone Who’s Been There
It’s horrible when you feel stressed and burnt-out. It’s easy to feel that you’re the only person who feels this way.
But hey, there are plenty of other people who feel exactly as you do. And there are plenty of people who have felt this way in the past.
There are also plenty of people who have already turned their stress into success.
It’s a good idea to find someone who’s been in this situation before and ask them how they turned their fortunes around. It doesn’t have to be a family member or a friend, it could be someone in an online group you’ve met.
If you really don’t know someone who succeeded after feeling exhausted, the next best thing to do is read the autobiography of someone who has done it. There are plenty of successful people who’ve turned stress into success, before writing all about it in a book. In their autobiography, you could read how they did it, and apply their methods to your own life. This is called modelling, and all successful people do it.
Stay happy!
