Hello IMBBians,
I always ignored that Essence had a new range of products on the shelves which goes by the name ‘My Must Haves’. Recently, I decided to have a look. They have some amazing products in the range and I decided to pick up a few, and today’s review is about Essence 01 All About That Base My Must Haves Lip Base.

My Experience with Essence 01 All About That Base My Must Haves Lip Base:
My Must Haves are loose products from which you can create your own palette. You can also buy the palette from Essence. Essence My Must Haves Lip Base comes in a cardboard like packaging, which has some information on the back.
The lip base comes in a plastic pan and you can transfer it to the palette. If you do not have a palette, fortunately, there is a cap to the pan and you can close it and keep it as an individual item. The cap is not very sturdy but good enough to keep the pan closed.
The lip base in the pan looks light pink in colour, but when applied, it is almost transparent. You can use a lip pencil for the application if you are concerned about hygiene. The fragrance is pleasant and very mild.
The product is almost similar to Vaseline and has a soft texture. It is very similar to a clear lip balm, in fact. One of the main reasons for introducing the lip base by Essence is to combine it with the My Must Haves lip powders and thus, it is a bit sticky as it’s supposed to hold the powder.
The base makes the lips soft and smooth and eliminates dryness, making your lips ready for the lip colour. The lip base, however, doesn’t help much against dry flakes on the lips. The hydration or moisturization level of the lip base is satisfactory. It stays for around 2 hours and then fades away.
The lip base does hold the lip colour for an extra amount of time. It increases the wear of my lipstick for around 1-1.5 hours extra. I bought this product assuming that it would act as a primer for all lip colours, but unfortunately, it is restricted only for the lip powders from the same range.
So summing up:
Pros of Essence 01 All About That Base My Must Haves Lip Base:
• Makes lips soft and smooth.
• Travel-friendly.
• Pleasant fragrance.
• Increases the longevity of lipsticks by around 1-1.5 hours.
• Reduces dryness.
Cons of Essence 01 All About That Base My Must Haves Lip Base:
• Very less hydration or moisturization effect.
• Doesn’t do anything for dry flakes on lips.
• Not a primer.
• Can only be used with lip powders from this range.
IMBB Rating: 2.5/5 (-2.5 as there is no alternate use for it)
Would I Recommend/Repurchase Essence 01 All About That Base My Must Haves Lip Base?
If you are buying the lip powders, then this could be a good choice. I would probably not buy it again but I would try it with a lip powder.
