10 CELEBRITIES YOU DIDN’T KNOW ARE CHRISTIAN
10 Celebrities You Didn’t Know Are Christian
Christianity is one of the world’s biggest religions. 83% of Americans presently refer to themselves as Christians, while the religion has 2.2 billion adherents worldwide, which is roughly a third of the planet’s entire population.
Such a statistic can be hard to believe when it seems as though the world and his wife are now atheists. Indeed, many young people are now growing up with friends who have no religion. This makes it even more surprising when you discover that so many celebrities are religious.
For a bit of eye-opening trivia and fun, we’re going to take a look at 10 celebrities you didn’t know have given their heart to Jesus. It may even cause you to rethink your own theories about the origin of life. Let’s take a look!
Kevin James
If you can’t quite put a face to his name, Kevin James played delivery driver Doug Heffernan in hit U.S. sitcom King Of Queens. In the show, he played the average Joe who love his sports, food, beer and wife. He made fun of people from time to time, but it was all banter. If he truly hated anyone, it was his father-in-law who lived in the basement downstairs.
While it’s hard to believe his on-screen character would ever be prepared to give himself up to God, Kevin James has done just that in real life. He said: “I’ve been very guilty of not showing my faith and just praying when I needed it, when something bad happened in my life and not being thankful when things turned out good. All good is from God, and so I want to honour him.”
Ja Rule
Ja Rule is famous for grinding with women in music videos and singing songs such as “Stripping Game.” So it might comes as a surprise to learn that his faith in God is strong. He was recently baptised as a Christian after claiming that working on 2013 movie I’m In Love With A Church Girl helped him to reconnect with God.
Denzil Washington
Although we’re not suggesting that Denzil Washington was ever a wild child, he did struggle with the bottle when he was younger He had to make a commitment to himself to totally cut out drinking so that he could get his mind and body together. From there, he played a mixture of tough guys (such as in Training Day and Flight) and good guys (such as in Fallen and The Bone Collector), but he admitted that playing the tough guys was never easy because it was so unlike him.
That comes as no surprise when you learn how devoted he is to God. The Hurricane actor once said: “I pray that you all put your shoes under the bed at night so that you gotta get on your knees in the morning to find them. And while you’re down there, thank God for grace, mercy and understanding.”
Justin Bieber
You either love or hate Justin Bieber, but despite all his misdemeanours, bad music and his posing and pouting in Calvin Klein underwear, he grew up as a christian.
Yup, the Bieber is a christian who “has an obligation to plant little seeds with my fans. I’m not going to tell them, ‘you need Jesus,’ but I will say at the end of my show, ‘God loves you.’”
Mark Wahlberg
Actor Mark Walhberg lived a very charmed life when he was younger. As a teenager, he hung out with gangs and almost killed a man. He was consequently charged with murder and sent to prison. Freed early, he worked hard to get his life back on track and started acting in films such as The Basketball Diaries with Leonardo Di Caprio. He got noticed by big-time producers and never looked back.
Wahlberg found faith too and says that he now serves God and wants to atone for his past sins. “For me to sit down and ask for material things is ridiculous. It’s a much bigger picture than that. I want to serve God and to be a good human being and to make up for the mistakes I made and the pain I put people through. That’s what I’m praying for.”
Chris Tucker
The Rush Hour comic said he found his faith after shooting Money Talks in 1997. In 2005, he backed up his faith when he was caught speeding in Georgia. He told the cop that he was late for church.
That’s dedication for you.
Patricia Heaton
Most famous for playing Ray Romano’s long-suffering wife in Everybody Loves Raymond Patricia said that, although she enjoyed her time on the show, it didn’t give her much time to read, study and pray. Patricia is wholly devoted to her faith and attends a Presbyterian church.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson
When most wrestlers leave the WWE they disappear out of the limelight until they return to the ring with their tails between their legs, desperate for some more fame. Ask yourself what on earth happened to stars such as Ultimate Warrior, Bret The Hit Man Hart and The Big Boss Man.
Dwayne Johnson, though, coped very well out of the ring and probably has a bigger fan-base now more than ever. He’s a trainer and a full-time Hollywood actor who feels extremely blessed by God. “I have my own very special relationship with God. I am very blessed. I count my blessings every day.”
Pierce Brosnan
Actor Pierce Brosnan is probably best known for his roles in hit comedy Mrs Doubtfire and three James Bond movies. He was actually a little bit annoyed when the producers told him his time was up in the 007 franchise because he felt as though he had a lot to give. These days, though, he’s much calmer and credits God with getting him through some very testing times.
“Prayer helped me with the loss of my wife to cancer and with a child who had fallen on tough times. Now prayer helps to be a father, to be an actor and to be a man.”
Charlie Sheen
Lastly, we’re not too sure about this one but we’re going with it anyway because, come on, it’s Charlie Sheen. How bizarre would it be if the guy who “cohabited” with two adult film actresses is actually a Christian?
Back in 1997, the Two And A Half Men star said he was a born-again Christian. Whether he still is is up for debate. He hasn’t got back to us yet.
